Chapter 34: 34: Tenth Day

As the next morning arose, Machi marked down 10 days since their arrival. Somehow, in his heart, he was thankful that there was discord within the settlement. Truthfully, he knew if there wasn't, they could all be dead already. He shook away that horrifying thought before getting up for the next day of seclusion after having his lick of freedom at the ball.

In other news…

Due to the attention Karma garnered, Shale had Machi convey his desire for Karma to keep the necklace he gifted her for the ball. But in doing so, really clashed with his own plans of using the stealth they gained for reconnaissance to gather information. Since he couldn't do it at all, Rocco, Mira and Karma could. But they were a man down so they scrapped that plan.

"Pfft, you're lying." Rocco chuckled and Machi didn't show any sort of joke had come from him. "Wait. You're not. Shit... you're seriously saying she caught the attention of these Eternals? Does she know?" Currently occupying one of the restricted zone rooms in the second castle, Machi took a bite of his breakfast and shook his head. "She's been asleep since last night." He revealed. "Doesn't help that she's gained attention. Mira was right I should at least teach her how to control ki. Probably in a nicer way than Jisa did."

Rocco chuckled and Machi sighed, adding that to the everlasting list of what they had to do. "You found a way out?" Rocco asked - distracting him from the current problems they faced. It wasn't like now they had to actively find a way out - but it was ideal to have their escape planned for the worst-case scenario.

"Eternals have entered Earth, I'm sure about that. So there has to be a way out that we aren't being told about, and I also think that secret exit has to do with the compounds with missing captains." Machi revealed and Rocco nodded, before complaining about missing his bed and clothes.

Mira kept watch over Karma as she slept away, the stress and worries she melted off as she rested not just her body, but her mind as well. Silver walked in - remembering the sight from last night - and sighed. "She isn't awake?"

"Nope, I think she's having a good sleep though." Mira chuckled - feeling the remains of a calming power all over her, and envying that she was able to sleep so peacefully. She wasn't even changed from her dress and still had the blazer on her. "The kid, Machi, does he have a last name?" Silver asked. "He's that powerful his last name must be in a book of powerful humans we have here."

That was a piece of information new to them. Mira didn't anticipate the Eternals having a book filled with information about the most powerful people on Earth, but then again, what else did she expect? They knew humans, but humans didn't know them. Mira shook her head. "Machi doesn't come from a strong bloodline on his mom's side. Lady Harkness was a nobody blessed with the powers of electricity but specialises in electromagnetism." She explained. "Don't know much about Rylan Harkness. He died when Machi was born."

Silver nodded but it didn't solve her question. Or Shale's. Why did this kid have spiritual pressure?

"My ladies, what's going on here? Girl talk without me?" Emery joked as she entered and Silver just stared blankly.

"What's the likes of the 4th doing here? Again?" Silver asked - getting sick and tired of the captains constantly going between the two compounds like they were their own. "Oh come on. We were all there last night. Seeing her drop against our King's power. We also all have the same questions."

Feeling the warmth over Karma, Emery looked to Silver with a cold look. "What the hell is that kokai?"

'What? Don't they believe he's human?' Mira wondered before looking to Karma who remained in a deep sleep. Mira really didn't want to be here, wanting a peaceful sleep like Karma was in.

Some squad members came to see Karma as she slept - being told that she was exerted from training previously before the ball. Machi watched the door as many came in and out, wishing her 'Captain' didn't over exert her. Shale was getting heat for something that was - in Machi's opinion - his own fault. He regretted not teaching her how to control ki but this was something that he couldn't dwell on. But he did.

Elsewhere, in an undisclosed secret area of the settlement, was a conversation that would have gained eyes of it was out in the open. Maria looked amused but Jin did not. "You will anger the King for doing this." He warned.

"They're senseless useless people." Maria said. Referring to the pair she had kidnapped from the seconds compound.

Jin looked to her and sighed. "Why do you want war? Why now, and not when the 3rd wrecked havoc and left all those centuries ago. Why at this very point do you want to cause a war?" Maria didn't answer and Jin sighed, knowing it wouldn't help the situation to anger her any further.

Looking down on them, she smirked and finally felt a sense of superiority. Centuries of heeding the other captains words like they were above her, finally she had something that would put her on an equal level as them. Seeing the first wake, she smiled and bent down. "Little lady I don't care for your name just answer me this." Mira glared at her and kept her mouth shut. "Do you think anyone cares you're gone?"

Mira looked around, before looking up and meeting Maria's face. "You have a major inferiority complex don't you?" Jin looked away and Maria slammed against the bars. "To answer your question, yes. People will care I'm gone." That's when she smirked and Jin noticed Mira was rather calm for a kidnapped person.

"Humans are weak, and you… you think you'll make it out alive don't you? Friendship doesn't prevail, it doesn't give you power. Power isn't in numbers. And your friends can't save you with their bonds."

Mira smirked and sighed. "I know. But, have you thought about how strong we are?" Mira winked. "You call us senseless however, we have our own power. To us, you're the senseless ones." Maria glared at her and Mira leaned against the wall. "Try us bitch, you'll regret touching us."
