Chapter 1: Not My Fault | Chapter 1

(A/N) Sometimes, you don't need a wand to do magic.

[Start]

"HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN TO OUR DAUGHTER?!" My foster mom yelled at me. Then trying to get Ivory out of shock by shaking her.

"What good are you?!" As my foster dad slapped me.

I bowed my head in shame. I can't argue with them saying 'It's your fault for letting your daughter follow me.'

Even though she's a year older...

"Please wake up, please...." The foster mom cries over Ivory's shocked body.

I run up to my room and locked it behind me.

'It's not my fault. It's not MY fault! IT'S NOT MY FAULT!' I thought to my self.

I put my back against my bedroom door and slide down to the floor. That's when my snowy owl cooed at me. I looked up and got off the ground and walked over to the snowy owl who was in her cage.

"I almost forgot that I had you in the cage again, Hegi." I opened up the cage and she flew out onto my bed.

She cooed back in response. I walked over to my bed and flopped onto it. Making Hegi jump in return.

"Sorry."

To think that this owl has been with me for a while. And all I do is keep it locked up in my room because my foster parents don't know that I have an owl. And they hate anything that flys.

But Ivory was different--she loved everything that she had.

At the same time, she felt sad that her parents wont treat the same way with me like her. So to make it up to me, on my 14th birthday; she game me this owl. And I appreciate it.

She said that this big guy with long hair and a beard, gave her the owl and said to give it to me.

It scared her to know that this random guy knows my name and gives her an owl so she can give it to me.

But she did what he asked and gave it to me.

It was hard for her to get it into the house somehow. Then she figure she could just use the window to leave it in my bedroom. Her parents always notice her when she comes into the house.

But for me on the other hand, it's the opposite.

"How did I end up in a foster family who isn't even going to treat me like a human?" I said to my owl.

Again, she only cooed.

I feel bad that I leave her in this room all day when I'm at school.

"I think it's time to let you go, Hegi. I can't stop thinking about how I keep you in this small space all day and night." I sat up from the bed and lowered down my arm so she can hop onto it.

Once she's on my arm, I go over to my window and open it. I put my arm out and she gives one last coo before flying away.

I hope she'll be happy out there than it is here in my bedroom.

I closed the window and flopped onto my bed. Falling asleep, knowing how the day will be tomorrow.

It's an endless loop.
