Chapter 31: Fooling

"Father, this is bad!"

Early in the morning, Zhou Jingran ran to meet Zhou Wanwu. He just heard about what had happened in the imperial palace. It sent him into a panic. His mind was a mess.

"What is it? Why are you so panicked?" Zhou Wanwu asked calmly, without taking his eyes off the book he was reading.

"Someone intruded into the imperial palace. The intruder tried to poison His Imperial Majesty and General Li."

Zhou Wanwu immediately looked up. His brow furrowed deeply as he looked at his son. "You know who it is?"

"I didn't find Miss Ning in her room," Zhou Jingran said in a half-whisper. His face was slightly pale. He didn't know for sure who the intruder was, and he was afraid it might be Ye Ningjie.

"Did you find anything in her room?"

"No." Zhou Jingran shook his head quickly. "I don't know where she went. I'm afraid she..."

Zhou Wanwu immediately stood up from his chair and walked quickly out of the room. "Let's check her room! I can't believe she did that."
