Dorothy sat to the side watching as Chester tended to Beth. The doctor she didn't know tending to Beth was something that she didn't like since there was a family doctor Beth could use. Why turn to a stranger when the family had a better doctor who has taken care of them for years?
Since when did this woman care to use a doctor that no one knew about? Dorothy saw Beth as someone who would love fine things. That Beth would want the best doctor in town to be looking after now.
Beth was carrying a Humphrey so she could have the best doctor by her side if she would turn this man away.
"How is she?" Dorothy questioned.
"She is doing well, Mrs. Humphrey. She has gained a little more weight since I last saw her. It is a good sign," Chester answered.
