Chapter 38: DUKE SHENXIU 2

Thirty Minutes Earlier, just outside the inner palace.

Minister Fu stood by the palace gates and started silently in the direction of the eastern palace. His earlier conversation with the Emperor replayed in his mind. He had never expected the Emperor to bring up dethroning the Crown.

He had been speechless when the Emperor brought it up but luckily he was quick to give a more neutral response. However, after some thought, he was starting to doubt if he had given the most favourable response.

Minister Fu Jumped and looked back as he felt someone pat his shoulder. "Brother Yong", he said holding his chest, "I did not see you".

Duke Shenxiu smiled, "how could you when you are so lost in your thoughts", he glanced around to ensure that there was no one at a hearing distance and continued, "what did his majesty say that has you so lost in thoughts?"
