Chapter 36: Chapter 36: An Alpha Duel

Kinsley’s POV

My head is still weary after enduring such a brutal fever, but I finally feel steady enough to get out of bed. Terron hasn’t slept much after tending to me at all hours, so I half expect him to be taking a nap on the couch when I make it to the living room.

To my surprise, Terron is flipping pancakes on the stovetop in the kitchen, and Lucas is sitting out on the chilly porch with a cup of coffee. The rain has stalled for now but the grass is still dewy and the clouds are still heavy and gray.

Terron flickers a look up at me lingering in the hall and I can already read the disapproval coming off his features at once.

“What are you doing up, sweetheart? What do you need?”

I groan, worried he’s going to make me return to bed. “I’m sick of laying around, Terron. I feel better.”

“Just don’t push yourself,” he says with a charismatic grin. “Here, I made you something.”
