Chapter 68: Twilight Child Project

Ana had finished breakfast and Melissa sat on the edge of the bed with her hand on Ana's stomach. The baby was kicking like crazy from all the sugar in the syrup Ana had put on her French toast. The repeated taps and kicks were making Melissa giggle. Ana watched her friend with her own hand on her stomach at the same time. 

Lucas was seated in a chair close to the bed and was watching the two women. If things were as they should have been he would be looking at his wife and his child. His sister would be making this fuss over her nephew. Luke felt a complicated mix of emotions about the situation. He was respectful of the situation that was Ana's reality, and felt anger and jealousy over what should have been.
