Chapter 18: Hard Confessions

Ana woke the next morning with guilt on her mind. Last night played in her mind on repeat. Being with Scott had seemed so rational in the dead of night but in the stark light of morning she wondered how she could have let herself be taken in so easily. Doubts about Nicholas's actions and one day of decency from Scott shouldn't have undone her feelings about two years of mistreatment at his hands. How could she have agreed to be with him?

Could being ignored by Scott for so long and being alone with her desire for him really have made her a slave to her physical needs? Ana had wanted him so badly. Enough for her to set everything aside and rationalize her actions as doing what was best for her child by giving Scott a fair chance.
