"Why?"

"Because you would have been hurt," Cairo pointed out as she placed a hand on his sister's shoulder.

Still, she did not see the reason.

"It is my problem if I am hurt. But why?"

"Claire."

"Why?"

"Because you felt guilty and you wanted to help." She shook her head in denial. Even if that was the case, he shouldn't be paying for it.

"Why?" This time her voice broke as she looked back up at her brother with tears falling down her cheeks.

With a sad smile, Cairo moved his hand from her shoulder to her cheek and used his thumb to wipe her tears away.

"It is my duty to protect you."

The second Zale heard that statement, he flew out from his hiding place and made his way to the living room.

As for Claire, having her younger brother say those words to her made her heart swell with joy.
