Chapter 63: 62 - It's not on the Map

Michael walked forwards in excitement with a large almost giddy smile on his face.

Victor followed right behind him while constantly checking the map, making sure that they were taking the correct path in this mess of a maze.

All of the sudden Victor stopped while looking to the right, Michael kepted going but noticed when he passed the skeleton entourage.

Turning on the spot He saw Victor standing there in confusion.

"What's got all confused?" Michael joked as walked back up to Victor.

"Well... That's not on the map." Victor pointed in front of him, Michael followed his gaze and saw that there was another tunnel that he didn't notice earlier.

"What do you mean?" Now also confused Michael turned to the map to confirm.

"It isn't, there are a few reasons that the map is wrong, but considering that this is the first floor it can only three..." Victor after triple checking the map, put away the map.

"What three?" Michael asked looking down the tunnel as his eye's narrowed.

"Well first the most unlikely, the map is wrong but considering how many people have walked on this path today alone I doubt it.

Second, which is most likely a trap room, they full of traps with usually a treasure at the end.

Lastly which.. well it'll be some fun for you anyway.." Victor stopped in thought but when Michael heard it'll be fun he did a 180 around to face Victor.

"What fun?" Michael eye's were almost glowing.

"Well it's a Boss area, they are temporarily areas that appear every now and then in the Labyrinth." Victor tried to remember the limited information he learnt before they entered the Labyrinth.

"Now the Boss monster could be anything as long as it's the same magic attribute as the Labyrinth, so the boss could be anything from a Earth lizard to a Earth dragon." Victor explained but as he spoke Michael became even more excited.

"But luckily for us the boss should be around the same level as the floor it appeared on, so it should be around level 5 to 10. If we manage to beat the Boss then we'll get amazing random rewards, that could be at our level or above it." Victor had to stop Michael from running down the tunnel by grabbing him on the collar of his armour.

"Not so fast." Victor shook his head.

"Ah come on, you can't tell me about something so fun and then stop me!" Michael complained like a poor lost boy who's just had all his toys taken away.

"Remember what I said about what it could be? If I had let you run without any care down the tunnel, what would have happened if it was a trap area?" Victor lightly hit Michael on his helmet with his staff as he told him off.

"Then why didn't you lead with that!" Michael complained but still stopped.

"Well unfortunately we don't have any experience with traps or anyone who can detect them." Victor held his chin in thought while looking down the tunnel.

"Can't we just use your skeletons to scout the way, after all they can just trigger the traps for us." Michael said while tapping one of the many skeletons surrounding them both.

"That's... Not a bad idea." Victor paused for a second thinking about this before completely agreeing.

Victor immediately changed their formation so that three Skeletons would walk in front of the group.

And to make sure them wouldn't miss anything another two skeletons were behind the three, and they would walk were the first three didn't.

And so they started their exploration down the tunnel, because Victor had to control his weak skeletons he couldn't stay fully alert, which made this important responsibility fall upon Michael.

But even if he looked like he was just here to have fun, he completely took this responsibility seriously.

But this made him even more bored as well, nothing had happened yet, no traps, no monsters, no ambushes, nothing.

"I thought you said this would be fun?" This whole time Michael had kepted his senses at the maximum in order to react to danger at a moment's notice.

But at the end of the day this went completely against his class type and it didn't suit him at all.

After all He was a tank warrior type class holder, so scouting and danger detection weren't something he was even remotely good at.

Hell even Victor a Mage/summoner/support class holder was better at it then him.

So Michael started to rapidly feel tired from expending so much mental strength.

"Don't worry, as there hasn't been any traps yet, this should either be a missed path or the boss." Victor comforted him.

It was at this time that Michael noticed a change in their surroundings as the cave walls slowly changed from the rough cave walls to walls made of stone bricks.

It was also at this time that they both found that they've come to the end of the tunnel, as in front of them was a completely dark room.

"Well it would seem you got your wish." Victor said as he looked into the pitch black hall.

As soon as they stepped into the room the extinguished touches on the walls lit up one by one on both sides, until the entire room was fully lightened.

After adjusting to the sudden light change, Victor and Michael got a better look of the now reviled huge room.

It was a rectangular room with a tall ceiling supported by two rows of stone pillars on each side.

On the ground was long yellow carpet running from the entrance all the way to a small throne on the other side.

On the tall ceiling was a series of large silver chandeliers that lit up the middle of the room.

Overall the entire hall gave off a mediaeval design and air, with yellow and grey banners decorating the hall but they were clearly old and damaged by time.

While Victor was taking in the sight of the hall, Michael's attention was focused on other side of the room on the small stone throne.

Sitting on the throne was a set of yellowish armour, Michael couldn't tell if it was alive or not but he did feel a sense of threat from it.

They slowly made their way into the hall while staying alert for any threats, but nothing happened.

When they reached the middle of the room everyone stopped as a sense of danger overcame them both.

Now within the required distance Victor used his identify ability to check the suit of armour.

[ *Special Boss* Earth Knight Spear-Master (Epic) - Lvl 10 ]

As soon as this information appeared in his mind, Victor's eyes narrowed as he started to contemplate that they should retreat.

"Michael back up, we can't beat it." Victor spoke as he slowly started to back up.

Michael didn't argue or complain, as he instead immediately entered a battle stance with his shield raised in front of them.

The skeletons on the other hand stood in front of Michael to act as the first line of defence.

But it was already too late...

"Bang!!" The entrance to the hall closed all of the sudden as the loud sound echoed throughout the hall, as if it was a gavel slamming down, as though they were judged to die.

It was at this moment the armoured fingers twitched a few times before both armoured hands squeezed into fists.

Noticing this movement Michael stopped as he knew it was already too late.

"Dammit, well I guess we're in trouble." Victor said seeing that their only exist had been sealed off.

"Umm it don't want to be the bearer of bad news but we have bigger problems..." Michael said as his pupils dilated in focus.

The Earth Knight all of the sudden stood up, dust and sand fell from the Earth Knight's armour.

Reaching out to it's side, the knight picked up a long stone spear 1.5 times it's height.

As soon as the Boss picked up it's spear a huge sense of terror spread throughout the whole hall, causing sweat to roll down Michael's neck.

While Victor felt a sense of danger as he tightened his grip on his staff.

"Whoosh!" The Boss sweeper it's spear in front of itself, tearing the very air apart, sending a strong shockwave of wind towards them.

Michael immediately braced himself as he defended them both with his shield.

"Bang!" Michael felt his shield shake from the impact but it still wasn't that strong of an attack.

"If that's all you got then this'll be easy!" Michael taunted the boss with a arrogant smirk.

"That wasn't a attack, that was just the wind pressure created by swinging it's weapon. So don't let your guard down!" Victor yelled as he sent his skeletons to attack.

Victor knew that they were in trouble this time, as this wasn't only a boss but a special Boss, which are on another level.

But to make everything even worse is that the boss is an Epic rating, meaning that it's skills and strength is extremely powerful, on the same level as an Epic class holder.

But different from classes, monster ranks not only reflect the strength or quality of it's skills but it's stats as well.

"This is going to be a hard fight..." Michael said his face now serious as raised his temporary weapon.
