An hour later the plane landed in Ohane city. Booking a cab we traveled towards the northern part of the city as Nia requested for it.
Booking a room, everyone freshened up, had some food, and gathered in my room. I hadn't locked my room so with permission all three entered my room.
As Nia, Eve, and Ray entered my room I was searching about Ohane city on the web. I had a basic understanding of the city as I was a part of the Wega intelligence team before but I had never been here besides the time when I rescued Nia on the train and admit to the hospital. I hadn't time to stroll in Ohane. And in a few years, some changes and development have happened. It was better to be updated.
One thing I noticed as I entered the city was something was happening here and was unsafe to stay in. Many people were migrating from the northern part to the center of the city. It was as if those people were afraid of some unspeakable things. I tried to search for more on the web but there was no trace as if someone deliberately erased it. I could dive more into the situation but first I want to know the reason for Nia's appearance in Ohane.
I exactly didn't know what were we going to inspect as I had only known that some investigation was to be done. So to know further detail about the investigation and to come up with a suitable plan all of us were gathered.
As usual the most curious was Ray so he was the first to speak even before he got seated, "B, what are we going to do here? What will be my role?"
Eve - "Yeah B tell us more about our role." I could see both were excited more than being serious.
I didn't answer but looked toward Nia hoping she would answer their question as I didn't know what was she interested to investigate.
Noticing my gaze, Nia felt a bit uneasy. But adjusting her emotions she spoke slowly," Have you ever heard of Prohine -IV?"
Ray was quiet as he didn't know. I had heard of it but not in detail.
Eve spoke, "I have heard of it. It was said to be a medicine created to cure heart attacks. I don't know more but heard later it was banned due to some reason and every ounce of it was destroyed."
Nia sighed - "The drug was said to be a cure for heart attack but the side effects were much worse as it will get people to have strong hallucinations and relieve any sort of pain. If a person gets a dose of Prohine-IV that person can't stop themselves to have more doses. It was the one of most powerful drug-human created. Luckily the government noticed it so got banned erasing every trace of it."
"Er, but why are we talking about it? Is it related?" Ray asked scratching his head as he was confused about where the direction of the conversation was going.
Nia looked towards the silent me and lean her head on the chair, speaking closing her eyes, "What do you expect if a drug much more powerful than Prohine-IV was to be created in the name of medical research?"
Ray- "AHH...All the underworld and mafia with some powerful organization will fight to the death to get their hand in it."
Eve- "That will be a disaster."
Nia didn't speak more as she rested her head in the chair with her eyes closed. I could see tears in the corner of her eyes. Maybe the new drug could be the reason for her to leave Capital University Lab. The information I wanted to get from Nia wasn't enough and neither did it helped with the investigation. I know that Nia hasn't trusted my group completely. I can't blame her for that.
Ugh...I have to have a good talk with her alone or at least get info to make plans for whatever she wanted to search for.
"Ray and Eve, both of you roam around the city and bring the complete blueprint of the city. I want to know each and every corner of the city. Pay attention to the rumor and talk of the city. Interact with the citizens." As I issued the work for both my subordinates, they left leaving Nia and me alone.
I didn't speak but continued to contact some informers to gather crucial news and information about the city via the internet. The room was silent for five minutes with only the sound of typing being heard.
I didn't want to make it difficult or uncomfortable for Nia so keeping my phone down I spoke, "I know you can't trust us but you need to explain what you want to search for and why then only we will be able to help you. Otherwise, how do you expect us to act without knowing anything?"
As Nia opened her eyes, I could see the sadness in her eyes, "Sorry for the trouble. The people closest betrayed me so I don't know who should I trust or not. As I asked for help from you, sorry for not disclosing any info. I will keep my belief in you as it is my last retort and I hope you won't backstab me."
I could only sympathize with her situation. I had decided if she keep her trust in me I would help her to do the complete investigation with whatever she wanted. Otherwise,... we could part from here. I also had a selfish reason to help her as I would need her assistance in my own matters.
"Okay B. I won't be secretive but I am here to search for a person...dead or alive and everything related to him. Further investigation can only proceed after finding him. It not going to be easy to find him either. But I need to find him. And the other reason is that by accident I heard, that the lab with some other organization was going to test their new unauthorized medicine in name of a medical camp in Ohane. " I could see expectations in her eyes beside the former sadness.
"Don't worry. Let's try, who knows we may succeed. Tell me about him."
" Name- Oliver Lee, former professor of Capital University and also my mentor. I had lost contact with him for a year after his sudden disaaperance but sometimes I got messages from him. He was also a researcher. The last message I got from him was three months ago. I fear something has happened to him." Nia told in a shaky voice.
"Nia, why do you think he was here? Did he mention it?"
"Yeah, in his last message he indicated Ohane. I felt he was in danger."
" If you don't mind can I see the last message?"
"Sure" she showed the last message to her mentor.
<<'Time is changing, stay safe. Maybe I won't be able to contact you. Don't mix with the people you shouldn't. Never put yourself at risk. Ohane is beautiful but the black cloud surrounds here. Destroy the remains. Note the number 0369. Hoping for your safe arrival.'>>
The message wasn't clear but care, warning, and some clues were mentioned.
"Besides the message is there any clue of him being here?"
"There is--"
Your gift is the motivation for my creation. Give me more motivation!
"Can I use your computer once?" Nia asked
"Sure" I handed her the computer, which she used for a minute, and a recording was heard.
<<"Are you sure Oliver created this new drug during his experiment by accident?"
"Yes, he did. He himself didn't know what he created but as he knew, he destroy it and has been hiding since then. We have to stop him before he does the same in the case of Prohine-IV. I have spoken with higher-ups, and they want Oliver dead. His head has been priced a lot."
"But only he knows the formula of that drug. That drug will remain as a drug if consumed at a certain interval but if a person resists its effect it will turn to be a fatal poison. How did the lab find the whereabouts of Oliver and his creation? Hasn't he been lost for a year?"
"They surely have a way. But this is only in the diluted form but is also so strong. If it was in its original form then...Sadly this 1ml dilute solution is the only portion left. Hope we could find the formula--">>
The conversation ended.
Nia- "This was what I heard in the lab after I received the last message from my mentor. They wanted to use me to lure my mentor to the Capital University Lab. Later I knew my mentor had been captured by then a year before but after the experiment, he fled. So they kept me under surveillance and mentally tortured me a lot. When my mentor didn't respond to the matter they freed me and asked me to resign.
I already had heard that they wanted to kill me and my mother, so I escaped with all my might. The people of the lab had colluded with outsiders and they wanted to force me to do their immoral and illegal experiment. I arranged for my mom's safety then only I had traveled to Ohane. I am not sure if I could find my teacher but I hope he would be alive somewhere.
The newly developed drug was one reason but those people want my mentor to hand over his whole lifetime of research and to take credit for his hard work."
"Humm...that's cruel. Can you tell me more about the new unauthorized medicine?"
"Umm...the medicine was ...my research. It was created to provide vitality to endangered animals and protect them. But later the leaders of the lab tried to modify it to use it in humans. I tried to stop them as that med could be dangerous to humans but they acted as if they stopped the research. In the dark, they continued." Nia replied in an awkward way.
"Do you think the unauthorized vitality medicine is only supplied to Ohane?" I doubt.
"Not sure of it but for the first phase they will try to minimize their effort and money. As the northern part of Ohane is suitable per the geography, weather, and economic condition of civilians living here, there is a chance it could be tested here." her assumption sounded possible.
"Okay let's search more about it--"
I was in dilemma to ask her about the incident on the train, the last call she received but decided to ask later. 'Was the poison in Rit's heart effect of the drug created by Oliver? But the drug was only created a few months ago...'
"Nia, do you have photos or anything of your mentor?"
Nia took out a photo from her bag. The man in the photo looked somehow familiar to me. 'Did I meet him in Belovgad?' (Sorry I don't have an impression of people unrelated to me even if I have a sharp memory.)
I tried to find the IP address and location of the server from where the message had been sent. It showed a different location so none could be sure where the message was sent from. I posted a photo of Oliver on the dark web (a most reliable source to find information with an exchange of the opposite people's needs) to find if he has appeared in Ohane City within six month and also send it to my informers to find out anything related to him. With the reward of money, there will always be someone to do the work.
After the talk, we walked around the city. As my appearance could easily attract the attention of the crowd, I was used to covering up my face with a scarf. Trying to find out the abnormality of the place we both blended into the crowd.

Later in the evening, after returning back to the room we need to discuss the finding and make a plan. Our main goal was to find: the whereabouts of Oliver Lee, any info related to the code number, and about the test for unauthorized vitality med.
"B, we got the detail map of Ohane as you asked." Eve handed the map. The map was quite detailed, they worked effectively.
"Lots of children and old-age people have died in a city from some month ago. The reason of the death is unknown. Many medical camps are set to cure people." Nia looked toward me. We also hear few things about the death while we were in city.
"Anything more?"
Ray coughed lightly and spoke, "B, maybe you won't believe in it neither do I but some superstitious people made assumption that the northern region of Ohane was cursed and made some scary stories . People didn't believe it earlier but now they do. To stay safe from the curse and death they have started to migrate. Some places in here have started to become vacant."
"I think some people are trying to take advantage of the situation, maybe some real state or some organization." Eve shared her thoughts.
"That could be true but we are not here to find those. I have a division of work for you both. Eve; you will join Nia to search for the number plus find news or photograph or anything related to those who are dead and Ray you will join me to the medical camp." I entrusted their role.
"And about my mentor--" Nia questioned.
"I will look for him. You only concentrate to find clues about that number. Now dismiss, Ray you meet me tomorrow after dawn in the lobby. And you girls be aware of your surrounding and stay safe."
"Okay"
As all of them retired from my room I took my computer and opened the dark web. Two people had sent me a message. Both had said that they had seen Oliver in Ohane about four month ago and one had seen him about two and half month ago and he was injured.
Thanks to their info now I could be sure that Mr. Oliver Lee had travelled here. Then the code could be something as password or locker number. Let's see other for later on...
Next day,
Early in the morning as I reached lobby Ray was waiting for me. He had something on his hand but I didn't dwell on it. It was better to travel through the local transport for safety reason. On the bus ride, Ray handed a box to me. I raised my brow indicating to say what it was.
"We didn't have breakfast. So I prepared it early in the morning. It's not good to work on an empty stomach."
Ray was right. I had neglected their needs. I was used to working without food, and resting as a robot but they aren't. I took the box and eat in silence.
After the food, Ray noticed the surroundings as the bus was riding far from where we had planned to go. He started to panic as the road was far from the medical camps.
"B, aren't we going to the health camp? But...this isn't the way--"
"No, we are going somewhere before joining the camp. Follow me without talking." I sounded calm.
