Chapter 46: 022 Captivity and Punishment

The second before Zoey was shoved into the back of the Trans-Fuel, seemingly blinded by the rain, she turned her head purposefully or unconsciously towards the opposite side of the river. The eyes were complex and forlorn, a plea, a relief and blessing. It reached Berger and Elaine with uncanny precision through the rain.

"Please, go. If you don't go, no one will be able to leave," Elaine's eyes dropped and her voice was almost deflated.

"... go," Berger finally gave in to Zoey, forced himself to turn his head, in a voice so hoarse that it said to the four men behind him.
