Chapter 23: Forest Steps

Jiang Hao and Lia sat across from each other at a table. If anyone walked in they would gawk at the sight of them. Jiang Hao was holding an ice pack to his face while wearing nothing but his underwear, while Lia was half naked with only pants on.

"Be happy I showed you mercy or you wouldnt even be able to stand here alive." Lia pouted

"Is there a town around here" Jiang Hao suddenly asked.

Lia looked at Jiang Hao but didn't say anything. Jiang Hao started to avoid Lia's eyes as in them he saw ridicule.

Getting up he went into the next room which was a sitting room. Lia laughed and turned around and left the room as well.

When Jiang Hao came out he was covered in a Red robe. His long hair was tied into a ponytail going down to his waist while his green eyes glowed matching perfectly with his robe.

"I still really hate these robes." Jiang Hao was still a human from the mortal realm at heart, and robes wasn't normal there. He pictured himself wearing a black loose dress shirt, white jeans, white shoes, with a weapon of his choice in hand.

Sighing Jiang Hao waited around a bit before Lia came back clothed in a white robe, while letting her pink hair dangle to her chest.

Jiang Hao was immersed in admiring Lia his eyes following her as she moved closer to him before she smacked him in the head.

Rubbing his head where he was hit he snapped out of his daze and glared at Lia while she sneered and walked towards a door.

She walked out before Jiang Hao started to follow behind her. Outside the light was dim even though it was mid day due to the towering trees around Lias house.

Lia lived in a forest nearby a city. She happened to be strolling around the forest when she found Jiang hao naked passed out in the grass.

She carried him back to her home where she tied him up incase he was a ambitious.

Jiang Hao was admiring the the forests beautiful scenery as he walked down a stone path way with Lia. Rushing water falls, small creatures, birds, and lush green grass was like a majestic painting.

He didn't even notice Lia slowly creating a distant with him. By the time he did she was already a small dot far away that was hard to see in the forest.

Jiang Hao started running to catch up using his movement technique he made awhile ago but never named, His technique improved his speed by 5 times.

Surprisingly he couldn't seem to shorten the distance. Jiang Hao frowned before he circulated his Qi and imbued it all into his legs increasing his speed by 2 times from before.

(A/N ×12 faster than orginal speed now)

But even this wasn't able to shorten the gap instead it was increasing. Refusing to allow this he pushed himself even more using everything he learned so far yet didn't close the gap.

He was now getting desperate not to get lost in this forest. He didn't however get to the point where he needed to burn his essence for a temporary increase of speed.

Jiang Hao was at his maximum speed yet couldn't close the distance and watched as it widened. He didn't even check his surroundings to realize that he has long since left the stone path and was in a different area.

*ROAR*

A earth shattering roar broke the tranquility of the forest. Jiang Hao unknowingly crossed into a beasts territory. Jiang Hao didn't even know the rank and as only a Early stage core Formation cultivator. Not daring to underestimate the beasts lime he did before he ran for his life.

The roar itself Release immense pressure Causing Jiang Haos speed to drop. Behind him a giant Gorilla was running to catch up closing the gap fast. Jiang Hao was scared out of his wits. He was able to see the strength of that Gorilla was Late stage Core Formation.

If Jiang Hao wasn't running against the wind he would be crying right now due to how stupid his situation is. Jiang Hao barely calmed himself down when he got inspiration from the gorilla.

Yes from the Gorilla, it was rapidly gaining swinging from tree to tree before transitioning to running. It was terrifying as each branch it grabbed broke in half while the bits in its hands turned to dust. Yet and still he was swinging.

Jiang Hao saw how it was using the trees and uneven ground to speed up. How he saw this no one know as who in there right mind would look behind them while running for there life, Jiang Hao would and he is while barley keeping a straight line.

Jiang Hao started to revise his movement technique placing his feet in random places before finding a rythm in those random yet natural placements. His speed slowly his increased even though it didn't do much for his situation.

At this point the gorrila started chucking trees at Jiang Hao, yes full blown trees luckily its aim sucked and he was able to dodge. Incorporating his dodging into it he was able to increase his speed more and more yet the Gorrila was still gaining.

Jiang Hao put his foot on a tree and kicked off before roughly landing and rolling before getting up and picking up speed again. He repeated this and quickly picked up the technique. Under the pressure and his tiredness his learning speed increased 10 folds allowing him to do this.

After what felt like ages but was actually 2 mintues he got a basic mastery of the technique his speed increasing by 15 folds even under pressure but 20 without it. He called it Forest steps as he wasn't in the mood to name it nor was he good at naming.

He finally was able to match the speed of the gorrila. Sadly all to late as the gorrila was on his ass.
