Chapter 1: Ashley
Giza, a suburb of the Egyptian city of Cairo.
Giza is best known for the sphinx and pyramids on the Giza Plateau, just west of the city. But also, for its long and tropical warm days. And today was no exception.
It was a warm Egyptian summer day, as predicted. The sun was high in the clear blue sky, and the sand covering the busy streets of Giza lifted gently in a warm breeze. It seemed like a day, like always, hot and relaxed
But it wasn't a day like it always was. At least not for her. Today would be a special day. For the first time in forever, 'Ashley' woke up with a smile on her soft pink lips. She was singing again. She felt excited and happy once more.
While she takes the last things for her travel bag, there is a subtle knock on the door. "Inside" she calls, hurrying her long dark blond hair over her slender shoulder. "Hey Ash" greets her older brother ... Rick.
Despite the fact that Rick was almost a decade older, their bond was unbreakable. She always looked up at Rick. And when she heard that he was in prison and sentenced to death, her heart broke. She tried everything, she almost got herself locked up after trying to break him out. Just when she thought all hope was lost, that woman appeared ... Evelyn. Apparently, Rick made a deal with her. She would save his life if he took her to the lost city of death. It took Ashley a while to believe it. Who would make such a deal? Someone who is probably desperate. But as always, she didn't think twice when he asked if she wanted to join him. Since their parents passed away, they have almost done everything together.
"Ash" repeats Rick, blinking in front of her bright blue eyes. "Oh sorry" she smiles and puts a stack of underwear in her bag. Rick smiles softly and zips up her bag. "Damn Ashley, do you have rocks in there or something?" Ashley laughs nervously. "I want to be prepared Rick, that's all." Rick puts the bag down and looks at her. He gently puts his hands on her cheeks and smiles warmly. "You know what I said when Mom and Dad died; I promise I'll always take care of her. I promise never to endanger her or disappoint her. I meant that Ash, I promise you." Ashley nods and places her forehead against his. Rick kisses her forehead. "Now let's get your bag of rocks and go. No doubt she's already waiting. "Ashley smiles and takes her keys. She locks the door and looks in the mirror that adorns the elevator. Her soft-toned skin, bright blue eyes, and long dark blond hair give her this innocent sweet look. Her slim body. , round full breasts and romantic soft pink lips give her a more exotic look. She pulls down her gray long-sleeved shirt and sighs. Rick looks intently at his sister and grins. Without warning, he rips the etiquette off her black skinny jeans. "Hey" she shouts. "You really should stop borrowing clothes from the store", Rick laughs. Ashley rolls her eyes. "I'll stop if they pay me properly." Rick laughs out loud and walks out of the elevator, shaking his head.
"Do you really think he'll show up?" "Undoubtedly. I know the breed. he may be a cowboy but his word is his word."
There they are" says Rick and leads Ashley towards the talking duo. "Personally, I think he is filthy, rude, and a complete scoundrel. I don't like him one bit." "Want to bet they are talking about you" smirks Ashley. Rick sighs. "Anyone I know" he interrupts. Surprised Evelyn and Jonathan turn around. Jonathan his gaze slides hungrily over Ashley her slender body. The shocked face of Evelyn makes Ashley have a hard time to not burst out laughing. Her eyes slide over his face and body. Both curious and hungry. When she opens her mouth Rick gives her a pushing look. "Oh uh" she stammers while she places her bag on the floor. No eyes at all for Ashley. "Hello Mr. O'Connell." "Smashing day for starting an adventure hey O'Connell" laughs Jonathan while patting Rick his chest and shaking his hand afterward. Rick looks unimpressed at the somewhat dumb-looking man while Evelyn observes Ashley. "Yeah, yeah smashing" answers Rick sarcastic. He checks if he still has his wallet and keeps Jonathan on the eye. "Oh I never steal from a partner, partner," Jonathan says hastily. Rick laughs and nods. "That reminds me, no hard feelings about the uh" he says and forms a first. "Oh no happens all the time" Jonathan answers nervous. While Ashley looks surprised up, Rick just smiles and shakes his head. "Mr. O'Connell can you look me in the eye and guarantee that this isn't some kind of flimflam cause if it is I am warning you I will." Amused Rick interrupts Evelyn. "You are warning me? Lady look let me put it this way. My whole damn garrison believed in this so much that they marched without orders halfway across Libya and Egypt to find this map and when we got there, you know what we found? Nothing but sand and blood. " Evelyn looks lost in thought at Rick and swallows. "Forgive me mister O'Connell" she stammers. Rick shakes his head. "I didn't mean to insult you nor your wife." "Oh ew" interrupts Ashley. "No, no interrupts Rick at the same time. After the word Ew escapes from Ashley her lips he looks insulted to her. "This is not my wife. She is Ashley and Ashley is my little sister" grins Rick. "Excuse me guys" he says and signals Ashley. Ashley silently follows Rick on board and sighs. "Ew" he asks amused. Ashley grins. "It is disgusting to think of me being your wife" she laughs. "I'll get you for that" he laughs and opens the cabin door. "Here, get unpacked. A little at least. I'll be back this evening. Ashley nods. "You'll be okay on your own for a while?" "Rick I am not a little girl anymore" jokes Ashley. "Yes you are, you will always be my little girl" he answers and kisses her forehead before leaving to deck. Ashley sighs and drops herself on the bed. Those two didn't seem so bad. Maybe this is exactly what she needed... A little time off in Cairo. Maybe this wouldn't be such a disaster after all. Humming she starts unpacking.
