"Hello, little Desmond," Clementine greeted, her voice filled with warmth as she waved her hand in his direction, a gentle smile gracing her lips. The words, however, caught Leona off guard, causing her to blink in surprise.

Leona's eyes narrowed as she regarded Clementine. "Have you always been this close to my son?" she inquired, her tone tinged with concern. She shifted her gaze to Desmond, who stood motionless and silent, his eyes fixated on an unknown point.

Sensing the tension thickening in the air, Bastian discreetly slipped away, navigating a detour that led him to the tranquility of the front yard. He let out a relieved sigh, his hand instinctively rising to wipe the beads of sweat forming on his forehead. "Phew, that was a close call," he murmured to himself. "But that kid truly is a genius. He can even rival his mother, a Master Witch."
