Chapter 53: Season 10, Quarterfinal Stage

Understanding that Fu Yue didn't get in through the backdoor, He Xing sincerely apologized.

"I'm sorry for my rude behavior. You are really strong."

Fu Yue was genuinely surprised to hear an apology. Ever since they met, He Xing has always worn an unfriendly look. It would not be strange to be resented by him due to this public execution.

Unexpectedly, he turned out to be a nice child.

At the thought of this, Fu Yue suddenly felt a prick in his conscience. In the beginning, he was debating whether to go easy on him or not since he was after all a veteran player.

But that kid just had to go and provoke him by picking Sen...aii

"You are not bad yourself."

He Xing's dull eyes widened in shock. No matter how good of a temper the other side was, they would be offended by his selfish request.

Therefore, He Xing wouldn't mind being scolded fiercely in front of his teammates and seniors. But to think that he would hear encouraging words instead left him puzzled.

Fu Yue's expression gradually became stern, "In the first game, your mistake is underestimating your enemy. In the second game, you got intimidated by your enemy and were forced into a passive role. Nevertheless, you were able to keep your calm under pressure and didn't panic, this aspect of yours is truly commendable."

"Don't feel bad about losing to me in 1 vs 1. After all, TOBH is a 5 vs 5 and you are more of a team player but He Xing, remember this."

Reaching this point, Fu Yue gently smiled and spoke softly, "We are the Mid-Laners, the backbone of the team. Do not expect to receive help from others all the time but instead, be the help that your team needs."

Fu Yue has always been an amicable person. Whenever he smiled, he gave a gentle and friendly atmosphere but his words were never to be taken lightly when he spoke seriously.

He Xing was moved by his words. He never thought that TM's new Mid-Laner was such a nice and forgiving person. Adding to his exquisite appearance, he even thought that the other party was an angel forgetting the fact that he had just gotten beaten by this person into oblivion a few moments ago.

With an attitude of respecting an esteemed senior, He Xing straightened his back and gave a serious reply in return, "Yes!"

Fu Yue was satisfied with He Xing's humble personality. He gave him a few pats on the shoulder before saying goodbye to the second team.

On the way back, Yang Yuxuan had a thoughtful look on his face as he probed, "Are you sure you have never been in this field before coming here?"

Li Haoran quickly chimed in, "That's right! I still remember how I felt when I debuted earlier this year! Si-ge, you are too 666l!"

Zhao Fu also said in admiration, "No one would believe that you are an Omega."

Being reminded of this, Li Haoran beamed, "Haha, I want to see He Xing's face when he realizes that Si-ge is an Omega!"

"His debut day is going to be glorious!"

While listening to these, Fu Yue could only give a dry smile.

If possible, he didn't want to lie. However, it was impossible in this lifetime to speak the truth.

In the following days, Fu Yue tossed himself into rigorous training with Silence as his partner and coach.

Thankfully, Silence was a rare morning person in this industry thus a training schedule was easily adjusted.

And just like that two months quickly passed. The weather had become cold and winter was around the corner. Everyone's attention was turned to the World Tournament which has finally reached the Quarterfinal stage.

SZ fought all the way and secured themselves a spot in the Quarterfinal. As a result, their region was represented by two teams, SZ and YL.

A famous retired pro player was invited on the stage to do the group draw.

8 teams were divided into two brackets, upper and lower. SZ was the first team to be picked into the upper bracket and the last team was none other than Sun, the previous World Champion.

Meanwhile, YL was the third team in the lower bracket and their opponent turned out to be AB, a regional champion from the Korean region and the season 8 World Champion.

After the matchup was finalized, everyone was in an uproar. Most people shook their heads lamenting that SZ would lose to Sun and once again miss the Final.

YL's luck was even worse. Facing AB in the Quarterfinal, they might not even qualify for the Semi-final.

Unlike YL, AB was from a giant organization and was XiaoXi's former team. Due to this fact, everyone was eager to see whether XiaoXi made the right decision to leave AB or not.

Amidst the excitement, the Quarterfinal stage quickly came. Unsurprisingly, SZ and Sun won their respective match with an overwhelming victory of 3-0 and successfully moved on to the Semi-final.

One week later, the most anticipated match arrived. Fu Yue and Wei Chen took a break from their training to catch the live with their teammates.

The arena was filled to the brims. Cheers were defeaning but at one glance, you could see that there were more of AB's fans than YL's.

The cameraman somehow managed to capture SZ's all players sitting among the crowd to support YL, their fellow region.

Not long after, the crowd broke into a frenzy after the two teams walked onto the stage.

As the protagonists, the camera seemed to never leave XiaoXi and AB players.

Unlike the latter who could mask their emotions well, XiaoXi's thoughts have always been written on his face. At this moment, he didn't hide his unhappiness upon seeing his former teammates together with their new ADC.

Having been in this industry for so long, Fu Yue could more or less guess there was something wrong with XiaoXi's transfer.

Presently, their team was sitting in the living room. Yang Yuxuan occupied a single sofa on the left while Li Haoran and Zhao Fu were seated on a big sofa to the right of the coffee table.

As a result, Fu Yue automatically sat down together with Wei Chen who was sitting alone on another big sofa in the middle.

He spoke in a volume that only the two of them could hear, "Was XiaoXi's transfer to YL not his idea?"

Wei Chen gave a slight nod, "At that time he was still under contract with AB."

"So YL sought AB out to buy XiaoXi and AB agreed. According to XiaoXi's personality, knowing that AB was willing to him sell at a high price, he would rather leave than stay." Fu Yue deduced.

He understood very well about the player transfer. When another team was interested in a player from a certain team they would contact the player's organization to negotiate.

If the player's contract with their org is up, they are technically free to do whatever they want.

In contrast, if the player is still under the contract, the transfer can only be done with the authorisation of 3 parties, the team they are departing, their new team, and the player themselves. The two parties can't decide without the player's willingness.

XiaoXi's decision to depart from AB might leave others skeptical but Fu Yue could understand him.

Being benched or subbed, a player had no right to say, therefore, it would be useless for XiaoXi to remain there.

In the meantime, Wei Chen neither affirmed nor denied Fu Yue's words, he merely continued, "Xyz was XiaoXi's student."

Meaning he was backstabbed by his student and team...

Fu Yue felt even worse for XiaoXi. He was not familiar with XiaoXi but he trusted Silence's character so he subconsciously viewed the bright red-haired young man in a positive light.

Relying on his huge fanbase, XiaoXi could have made a ruckus on the internet but he didn't. This showed that his character was not bad.

The pick and ban phase started. Fu Yue whispered, "Which team do you think will win?"

Wei Chen didn't reply right away. As a friend, he, of course, rooted for YL but according to his reasoning, the chance of YL winning was quite slim.

"AB is strong in all lanes."

Fu Yue immediately understood his meaning and couldn't help but be worried for YL.

AB's Jungle-Mid duo were identical twins. This duo was said to be the best in the world and they were always on the same page.

Facing this terrifying duo, XiaoXi's living environment would be miserable. Adding to the fact that AB was familiar with XiaoXi's habits, it was hard to survive.

As expected, YL lost two games in a row but they managed to turn it around in the third game giving hope to a reverse sweep.

Seeing the disparity between their teamfights, Fu Yue was not relieved even after seeing YL just won the match.

As foreseen, while game 4 was being played out, both Fu Yue and Wei Chen became silent.

There is no comeback.

Li Haoran, a fellow ADC angrily complained, "Wow, that brat Xyz looks so proud after receiving so much love from his Jungler and Mid-Laner! God Xi played so well but his teammates were unable to keep up with the enemies causing him to fall behind argh!!"

To make matters worse, after the victory, AB celebrated by themselves for quite some time making YL stand awkwardly on the stage while waiting for them to come over for a handshake so that they could leave.

This behavior was quite disrespectful toward the losing team but the cameraman couldn't care less and zoomed into XiaoXi's bad face as he shook hands one by one with his former teammates.

When it was Xyz's turn, he spoke a few words with a bright smile which in turn made XiaoXi's expression further darkened.

Wei Chen closed the stream and let them go back to their rooms. Fu Yue and Wei Chen were staying next to each other so they went back together.

As Wei Chen was about to enter his room, Fu Yue suddenly stopped him, "Is it okay for me to add God Xi on WeChat?"

Wei Chen didn't ask for his intention in doing so, he merely nodded, "I will ask him."

After he finished, seeing that the other side seemed to have more to say, he took the initiative to ask, "Anything else?"

Fu Yue seemed a bit embarrassed about what he was going to say but he ultimately decided to say it anyway, "Well, I haven't thanked you properly in person for what you have done for me so thank you, Captain. And..."

Wei Chen patiently waited for what he had to say next.

Noticing his patient look, Fu Yue no longer hesitated and sincerely said, "I seriously think that we make a great pair!"

After watching AB's Jungle-Mid duo, Fu Yue was confident enough to say that he together with Silence wouldn't lose to them when they faced each other in the future.

He was indirectly saying that they would take revenge for XiaoXi in the next season. That being said, Wei Chen shouldn't be too saddened by YL's defeat.

Honestly speaking, Wei Chen was not in a bad mood. He has been staying in this industry for so long that he can get his emotions under control and so can others.

Not to mention, Zizi was at the scene so he doubted XiaoXi had the time to be depressed...

Still, this was the first time that someone was so upfront in comforting him in case he was hurt.

It was strange... But he didn't dislike it.

Wei Chen quietly gazed into his sincere eyes. It took another few seconds for his deep voice to be heard in this silent corridor, "... Don't say this to others, especially Alphas."

"It sounds like a confession."
