"Let me go!" Eloise yanked her hand away from Rochester's as soon as they'd stepped outside and closed the door behind them. Her eyes flamed. "I didn't like the way you treated me like a child in front of my granddaughter." She scowled.
"Is that so?" Rochester said calmly, shaking his head a little too harshly. He could understand that her pride was hurt by the way he had dragged her out just now, but for Adelaide's sake he had to do it, otherwise she would go on and on about how Adelaide needed to hurry downstairs to see her mother, a woman who had been allowed to abandon her all these years.
