Chapter 84: The Eventful Night Before
- After the Duel -
We arrived at the school dorms at around 8:30 PM, half an hour before the curfew. Feng Mian, Qing Yue, and the Yu sisters headed off towards the girl dormitories while Mei Gui stayed with me. I glanced at her with an awkward smile on my face.
"Uh...Mei Gui, are you sure you want to come with me into the boy dorms?" I asked hesitantly.
She nodded. "There will not be any problems for Master unless I am seen, correct?"
"Er, yeah...but if you are, then I will almost certainly be expelled from the school, y'know..." I replied sheepishly.
"Not to worry, Master. Even if you are expelled from this trash school, together, we will survive and become stronger than anyone else."
"Hah...that sounds tempting, not gonna lie," I grinned. "But...there are still things I must do within this city. And right now, this school is acting as a perfect base for me."

Honestly, this chapter was closer to a side chapter, but at the same time it was really important for character development, both for Mei Gui and our MC, Xuan Kai.
At the same time, the relationship between the two is also getting closer. By the way, if you were wondering why Xuan Kai, who was usually extremely careful and suspicious of everything, trusted Mei Gui instantly....well, I did mention the two were linked telepathically, correct?
It's hard to describe in words, but for Xuan Kai, it's just a gut feeling - Mei Gui was trustworthy, and would never hurt him. Mei Gui, similarly, knew in her heart Xuan Kai was her master, the one who awakened her - and that he would never hurt her either.
It's a mutual, trusting relationship. The other girls are bound to be jealous of Mei Gui for getting so close to Xuan Kai within one day, though...
Anyway - if any of you were wondering, Mei Gui isn't exactly the main heroine...though at the same time, it would be wrong to anyone else is. So my conclusion is - in this series, there is no main heroine. Or rather, perhaps it would be better to say that ALL the heroins are MAIN HEROINES. However, that being said, Mei Gui will certainly have the biggest role in the future, since she is directly related to the progression of Xuan Kai's strength.
By the way, I'm very uncreative with chapter names, as you can probably tell by now. Still, it's better than just naming them by numbers. But I'm improving - practice, I guess?
