Chapter 11: Hundred of photographs

Michael Miller looked at his daughter coldly. He has done so much for her, but the result is still the same. There were no improvements and changes that bothered him so much.

As a father, he wanted a good future for his daughter. If Mirena won't something about the current crisis, he would never lend a hand to save the company.

It would be a big challenge for Mirena to live poorly in an old apartment with nothing to brag about at all.

If he counted the things he did for her, it would take him a month. Yet, Mirena never appreciated everything.

She thought wealth and connections won't vanish as long as Cyril and the rest of the team managed her duties. Mirena expected that no one could ever defeat Miller's prosperity.

But now, he could no longer sleep in peace. With a snap of the rival's finger, the company that he kept for how many years would be taken away.

As he waited for Mirena, Michael took the glass of wine on top of the table and took a sip. In front of him was the entire city. The sight was breathtaking when darkness devoured the sky.

Suddenly, the door squeaked that caught his attention. Michael took a deep breath and looked into the wall clock.

"You're ten minutes late," he disappointingly said.

"You never changed, Mirena." He added and took the white envelope as he walked closer to the circular table. He put it down and didn't utter a word.

Mirena held back her breath and took the folder. She has no idea what it was for. Out of curiosity, she opened it and saw documents inside the envelope.

"What are these for, father?"

Mirena narrowed her eyes and tried to understand everything on the paper. She looked at it deeply and wondered how it could relate to the company.

"Cyril sent those documents earlier," Michael replied as he scoffed and turned around to look at her eyes. "Aren't you going to tell me what happened last night?"

Michael heard about the incident from Drake. At first, he was hesitant to believe in his words not until a shred of reliable evidence was presented. Drake possessed such a video as how he helped Mirena.

It was clear enough for Michael that her daughter finally met the man who could change her to be a better version of herself.

He waited for Mirena's answer. For a strange reason, Michael realized that he failed to raise his only daughter right. She could be the Mirena who knew how to handle such minor problems on her own.

Until she sighed heavily and denied everything. "No. I mean, there was nothing that happened to me!"

She looked at his father right into his glinting eyes as she held back the hatred within her chest.

"Since when did you start caring about me?" Mirena asked her and lost control. "You were too busy working and never came to school every time my teacher—"

"Stop the fucking drama, Mirena! This is not the right time to prioritize your feelings!"

It was the most painful words she had ever heard from her father. Mirena tried to control her tears, but they always betrayed her.

Tears fell into her cheeks like how the river flowed continuously. It has been a long while since the last time she spoke with Michael dramatically.

It was supposed to be a discussion about strategies, and alternatives as to how they could work it all as a team. But like a typical daughter and father relationship, they also had a serious gap with each other.

Money and luxurious things won't suffice the longing of a lonely daughter. She maybe had everything in her life except for a father who gave all his attention to her.

Mirena hide the pain and showed Michael that she could live without him for the longest time. Until she disclosed a mind-blowing revelation that entirely changed her life.

Michael breathed deeply and avoided her wet face, "Wipe your tears and go back to your senses!"

It was hard for him to explain his side. Like Mirena, he suffered a lot just to give her the gold future she deserved. He had reasons but doubted if it was necessary to speak out.

"How… how would you deal with all of these if you always spend your time with different men every week? Do you think I don't know all your actions? I knew every little thing and I have proofs!"

Anger led him to do something that would push Mirena away from his life. But if he had to be strict and rude, Michael willing to be that kind of person.

As Mirena continued crying, he walked into the old cabinet that he used before. In the last drawer, there was a brown, long envelope he kept. No one knew about it even Mirena who wasted time inside of the said office.

Frustratingly, Michael threw it into Mirena's face. He didn't consider the consequences that might complicate things.

Hundreds of old and new photographs were scattered on the floor. It was Mirena and the man she fooled around kissing.

"How did you get—"

"Stop denying it from me! Those pictures defined how dirty and worthless you are!" He cut her off with the words that shattered her heart into pieces.

But Mirena wiped her tears away and fought against him. She had reasons to tell, and no one could ever change her mind.

She then burst into a peal of sarcastic laughter and clapped her hands loudly.

"You don't have the right to dictate what I should and shouldn't do with my life! Yes, you are my father but only on those shits documents! After all, you have never been a father to me!"

This time around, she went too far and showed how disrespectful she was towards him. Their relationship was at the bottom of the sea, and no one dared to settle it.

Michael gritted his teeth and tried to hold back the rage. He didn't want to give another reason for her to hate him.

But Mirena glanced at his eyes and smirked, "I will never treat you like a real father until my very last breath—"

Out of the blue, a quick sound echoed. It was an abrupt reaction that left a mark on Mirena's face. For the first time, she tasted how a real father disciplined his child through a forcible slap.
