Chapter 184: Unearthed Memories

"Lai, I know it's probably a painful memory for you," he said gently, "And I'm sorry that you had to remember something like that. I'm glad that your memories are coming back. Whenever your memories come back, please let me know."

Lai nodded helplessly.

"Lai, you don't have to go through this alone, okay? We'll figure this out together," Bai reached across the table, taking her trembling hand in his, "Remember that you're not responsible for your father's mistakes. I'm here for you, no matter what."

Tears began to roll down Lai's cheeks, and she squeezed Bai's hand in gratitude.

"Why are you so nice to me?" she softly asked, carefully wiping her tears so she didn't ruin her makeup.

He smiled and leaned forward, wiping her tear-stained cheeks with wet wipes.
