Chapter 10: CHAPTER 9
Danica sat on a chair in the balcony with a parrot in the cage. She had her recently favorite book on the table kept in front of her with a mug of coffee on the side. Coffee with books. Her favorite combo.
"Baby you're so cute! Mama.. is so lucky to have you." She said in a baby voice as she talked with the parrot.
The parrot Zeke bought for her 3 months ago but was sent for training. Now that the parrot was more trained, it was more smarter. Zeke didn't want her to feel alone that's why he bought him for her.
"Mama?" The parrot says tilting his head side to side and Danica slightly smiled. The first ever time she had ever smiled for real.
"Yes baby. Mommy Dan?" Danica laugh a little bit taking the coffee mug of her coffee.
"Mommy Dan!" The parrot repeated widen her eyes in surprise.
"Yes baby. Zeke, daddy." Danica continue softly as the parrot looked at her.
She got up taking the cage in the room then she quickly closed the balcony door and opened the cage door helping the parrot to come out of the cage.
Danica widen in fear, she quickly ran to the parrot snatching away the books it almost tore apart, "Don't do that baby."
The parrot flew to her shoulder and it took a seat there making smile. Danica walked back to the bed and it moved down on her forearm. She smiled and started caressing his head, she was happy that she had overcome her fear of birds and that she could now touch it. She really loved the parrot that Zeke brought for her.
"Mama loves you, baby parrot.." She whispered caressing his head. She took his food on her palm feed him.
The door open and it showed Zeke who walked inside but quickly panicked as he saw the parrot flying to him.
"Zeke. Zeke. Zeke." says the parrot and sit on his shoulder.
Danica shock and widen her eyes.
"OH FUCK!" Zeke yelled before placing his hand on his heart, "You scared the shit out of me. Why is he out?" Zeke questioned her quickly held the parrot back on her forearm.
"I'm sorry." She mumbled before walking back to the bed, "Don't dare to bother again to your Daddy Zeke, baby parrot okay?" She faintly said.
Zeke slightly looked at her before getting his files from the drawer. He felt a little shy as Danica referred him as a daddy to their Baby parrot and that unknowingly made Zeke smile.
"Did you eat?" Zeke asked her.
Danica looked at him smiling. "Yes I did." She answered.
Zeke could sense the happiness in Danica's voice. He was happy that she was starting to be happy. He nodded before walking out of the room and back to his office room.
Working at home hadn't been so easy for him. But he needed to do it, just for the protection. He sat on the chair and he placed the file on the table before taking out another file from the drawer.
A men walked inside the room, "Sir, our men has caught a suspicious man outside. We investigate and we're sure the man was one of the Woodlei's men. He is in the torture room."
Zeke nodded before getting up and walking to their basement. The men walked behind him as he followed Zeke with his head down low. Opening the door Zeke saw a men on the chair tied. Three of his men had surrounded him but quickly backed off as they saw Zeke.
"What's your name?" Zeke asked while he bent down slightly to talk face-to-face.
The men looked away. Zeke hummed in response, "You won't talk?" He ask again as the men looked back at Zeke before glaring at him.
Zeke snorted as he signaled his men and walked back, sitting on a chair. Zeke's men wore a brass knuckle before punching the men hard on the face. Watching silently as the men gets beaten up Zeke sat on the chair looking at him with no emotion in eyes.
His mouth bled due to the continuous punch, he spat blood on the floor.
"Now. What's your name?" Zeke ask while his men slightly backed away.
The men cough, "J-John.." he answered his eyes swollen and he tried to keep them open. He was bleeding badly but that didn't really made Zeke feel bad.
"Who sent you to spy on me?" Zeke asked another questions, eyes spitting fire and ice at the same time.
"I won't tell you." John answered, two of Zeke's men punched him once again.
Zeke got up as he saw the men coughing more harder. He walked to the man and he crouched down before looking at him, "It's simple. You tell me the name and I'll let you go."
"I can't tell you his name." The man said, Zeke noticed his eyes getting teary.
"I already know who your boss is. But I need to confirm before l act against him. The quicker you tell me, the less painful it'll be for you."
The men looked at Zeke before speaking.
"I can't tell you. He will surely hurt my family if I tell you.." The man explained.
Zeke sighed. "I'll provide the protection to your family and to you. I just need the name."
Zeke said. The man looked up at him with eyes begging for mercy.
"It's W-woodlei." John answer. Zeke smirked before backing away.
"And what information has you given to him?"
"About your w-wife."
Zeke tries to act normal as he heard the word wife. He can feel his blood boil and he surely will be panicked if he do nothing.
He glared at the man. "You'll be staying here for a day and then I'll let you go. Make sure to never return to him. Your family will be safe." Zeke said before turning back and quickly walking back to his office.
Now that they know about Danica, Zeke was scared. That they might drag her and he won't be able to do anything. Changing the direction, he walked to their room, Zeke opened the door and looking at her coldly.
Danica shivered scared that she might have upset him somehow.
"Pack all your things, we'll living in the safe house for some days." Zeke said.
Before turning back and walk towards his office again, he could sense that Danica was confused but he couldn't explain anything to her right now. He just needed to keep her safe.
The only thing roaming in his head was her safety.
