Walking toward the office room in hurry, Zeke breathed out heavily controlling himself. He quickly opened the dark room door in his office room.
He saw a figure sitting on the corner. Danica immediately stood up, looking down. She was too hurt to say anything to him.
"
"Do you still want to visit your sister Dian?" Zeke asked.
Danica looked aside, not wanting to get mad at him.
"Answer me." He ask in a serious tone despite the fact that he was slightly drunk, "I don't want people
to think my wife is a cowardly women who can not
even look people in the eye." He spat harshly while Danica slowly looked up meeting his eyes making him burn in rage even more.
"Yes I do. But I will not bother you anymore with what I want. I deeply apologize that I had asked you for something you did not want." Danica answer, trying to sound strong but ended up sounding so fragile and broken.
Zeke clenched his jaw seeing how she still wants to meet them, "Good. Because you aren't meeting them or anyone. With or without my permission."
Zeke said with anger and cruelness could be felt in his aura whether she could see him or not.
He took steps towards Danica and looked down at her,
gritting his teeth as anger filled him up looking into her eyes that seemed completely blank and naïve.
"I-I'm, Danica, expect you to behave like a good girl whether you're in front of me or not! Do you understand me?"
Danica nodding firmly looking at him, but deep down she was sure that his hands would leave more scars on her arm as he was once again holding her arm very roughly.
"I u-understand." She answer in her soft voice.
"Come to the room and sleep. It's late." Zeke order before dragging her out of the room. He locked it and walked to their room while Danica following him behind.
She walked inside, and roamed her eyes everywhere in the room, looking for their parrot but froze as soon as her eyes fell on one particular area.
"Go sleep." Zeke said coldly but looked at her when he found no movements in her, "D-Danica?" He ask, eyes moving to where she was looking at as he widen his eyes in shock.
She took some steps toward the direction. She bent down looking at the small body, taking it in her hands. Blood dripped through the neck of the parrot.
The glass kept on the bed side drawer was broken into pieces as one of the piece had the parrot's blood on it.
Danica sobbed as she caressed his head, chocking on her tears when she found no movement in it's actions. She laid the parrot in her arms.
'The parrot had been dead for long.' Zeke though to himself. He took steps near to Danica, looking at her with pity.
He blamed himself for her pain once again.
"l-I'm s-sorry.. I-" He tried speaking but no words came out of his mouth seeing Danica crying while she hugged the little body of it. Somehow he was not audible to Danica, she was too shocked to hear him.
Zeke sit beside her as he rubbed her back up and down feeling pain seeing her totally broken in front of him. And the reason was he himself.
He was upset with himself for breaking her like this. He was no different than her family. Yet he was trying to protect her from them.
"I am r-really s-sorry... I shouldn't have locked you.." Zeke apologized to her while Danica slightly backed away from his touch making him frown.
She sobbed as she kept snuggling him into her arm, hugging him gently. Zeke sighed knowing he can't do anything to comfort rather than to just sit there with her.
He wished he could go back to time. He hated himself for hurting like that. Yet she didn't blame him but herself for his death. He was so upset with himself.
Danica sobbed as she kept caressing the parrot's soft body looking at his slightly open eyes that was wet, indicating he had tears in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry.." Danica whispered and cried out as she closed the parrot's eyes, "I'm so s-sorry.." She apologized.
"You h-have to let him rest. He needs to go now." Zeke spoke softly, gulping down the lump in his throat while he looked at her broken state.
Danica still cried as her voice sounded hoarse now. Zeke gently caressed her head and he took the parrot in her hands.
"N-no. Please d-don't take him away f-from me–" Danica begged, looking at Zeke with her tearful red eyes.
"We have to do this, Danica. Listen, he will be in a better place now. It would hurt him to see his mommy crying like this." Zeke stated as he caressed her head before getting up and walking out of the room leaving Danica alone. Danica still cried, begging Zeke to let him hold his body for the last time.
Zeke handed the body of the parrot to his men as he ordered them to quickly bury it. Zeke followed them as he saw them burying it's body making his heart ache.
He quickly walked back to their room. He saw Danica on the bed and a maid cleaning the floor. The maid looked at Danica in pity.
He didn't want the maid to see her like that as he quickly picked her up in his arms and walked toward another room, placing her on the bed.
Danica sat down soundlessly and silent. She had nothing to speak. She had her mind on the pity parrot. How he left her alone. How she ruined her relation with Zeke by bringing up her family. She hated herself for ruining it all. Neither did she had Zeke now nor their parrot.
Her thoughts wandered if the parrot will hates her for being careless with him. She looked at the bed as she saw her clothes on the bed. She squinted her eyes in confusion. She looked at Zeke who was looking at her.
Though what she failed to recognize was the worry he had in his eyes for her.
"Change your clothes. You need to sleep." She heard Zeke said. She looked around the room to find herself in a different room.
She had no sense when Zeke brought her and her clothes to this room. But she kept quiet and she got up walking toward the bathroom. She changed her clothes before slipping under the covers of the bed.
She sobbed, not caring if Zeke heard her or not as she let the tears fall out of her eyes.
Zeke sighed softly before turning to face her back. Hesitantly pulling her back to his hard chest he pecked the back of her neck in a attempt to comfort her.
Danica turned around quickly snuggling in his chest as she let out her sobs, trying to find comfort for her aching heart.
"I didn't mean for him to die. I didn't want to be a burden to you. I'm so sorry." Zeke apologize in a soft voice.
Danica sobbed hard making Zeke to caress her soft hairs. He tried to calm her down.
"Shhh. It's okay. Our baby parrot is probably more happy now." He said patting her head tenderly. He let her hug him tight.
"He hates me. I couldn't protect him.." Danica replied crying out because of the deadly pain in her heart.
"No. He doesn't. It had to be like this. Don't blame yourself. If he were a real children of yours probably your the best mother to him."
He assured her. Zeke rubbing her back up and down while Danica continued to cry on his chest.
Zeke's heart ached deeply. It was too hard for him to see her like this. The first time ever she opened up to him like this and him accepting her in return.
She was very fragile indeed. He hated himself for hurting her, someone who has such a soft heart.
He didn't want her to go back into the darkness. And he hated how he snatched away her hope and her light.
