"What are you doing here?" Ava elbowed him, making him let her go. She faced him and frowned. "I didn't hear you."Or sense him. Perhaps this was because she couldn't feel his wolf inside his body? There was a connection between them but that connection was not the same as the one she had with him in the past.

He only chuckled in response.

She immediately took a few steps back, her senses on high alert.

"I thought you are away?"

"I was. Not anymore." Matthew looked around. "But I am leaving again. I came to tell you that I might not be able to join the conference after all."

"And?"

"So, I want you to stay here and join me as my wife."

"Whose wife?"

"If not mine then… are you saying you are going to marry someone else?"

"I decline your proposal."

"That was in the past."

"You are annoying."

"Yet, you like me, don't you?"
