Chapter 16: Chapter 16: The Gift

“For me?” I felt stupid asking, but I couldn’t understand why Kieran would have something for me. It’s not like he talked to me much since I first arrived.

The only one who ever gave me gifts without strings attached had been Kat. Scott would buy me so many gifts, but they were never the things I wanted. Clothes, books, jewelry, and everything in between were based on his preferences and not mine.

Kieran didn’t say anything but kept his hand extended toward me.

I grasped the end of the box and as soon as I did, Kieran let go. The lid slid off easily and revealed a brand new model black phone. I didn’t even think this phone was available for purchase yet. How did he manage to get this?

“What is this?”

I finally looked up and could see Kieran staring at me. Even though we weren’t touching, it was as if that electric sensation was building up in my chest. I felt heat on my cheeks, and just hoped he didn’t notice.
