Chapter 10: Mission
Hyuga Ko - Captain Yami , all members have arrived now.
Yami glanced at Ko who was also a new jonin from Hyuga clan. He seemed to be confident in his abilities so Yami had no issues with having him as his second in command during this mission. After that he looked at other members of his team and smiled at them.
Yami - Etto.. I'm not very good with speeches so let's get to the main point. Our allies at the main Suna front need supplies and our mission is deliver them there successfully. Dont worry and focus on protecting yourself during our journey only as I have got your backs. Ko, you are our only sensor with your byakugan so you will be in front while I will be at the rear of our team. Come on let's go already ...
With that Yami started hopping over there branches and his team also followed him immediately. Some had weird expressions but Yami ignored them as he liked to be easygoing and disliked speeches and stuff.
Soon the formation was formed as Ko was in the front and Yami at the rear. The chunin carrying huge bags filled with scrolls and Tokubetsu jonin ran in the middle. Yami nodded as he was satisfied with feeling of commanding people for first time himself. He had the experience from old Yami but that was another thing for him.
Konoha's base camp was located near the borders so they would need at least three days to reach there at genin level speed. Yami did not pressure his teammates because they had that much time at least. They would be too tired to fight otherwise if they got more tired when the enemy ambushed them.
Soon after two days Yami heard Ko's warning that there were about thirty enemies ahead. Actually he already knew because his EMS gave him insane vision range and he had the habit of keeping it activated all the time.
Yami - Stop . Let me handle them alone.
Ko - But captain there are three jonin class chakra signatures among them.
Yami - Relax Ko chan.
Yami just patted Ko's shivering shoulder and flshed a smile at him. He would naturally feel scared as in their team were only two jonin including Yami and himself while the enemies had three and rest were all chunin class too.
Yami - No need to feel scared because fear will only Cloud your judgment. Look even your teammates are feeling nervous now seeing you in this state. If I encounter a pinch then I will naturally ask for help as I dont plan to die anytime soon. So relax and watch your Captain's performance..
Yami flashed a last smile at him and dissapeared using body Flicker. Ko was stunned seeing Yami's speed as he already reached more than seventy meters away with one step. This was not even possible for elite jonins as Ko had seen the main house Hyuga clan members practicing a lot of times...
Yami crossed the distance of more than 800 meters in just thirteen seconds and hundreds of kunai were already flying at the enemies who could not react totally in time.
Yami had used shadow shuriken jutsu while forming hand seals and molding chakra since he took the first step. His chakra control was already at Kage level so forming another jutsu while using body Flicker was nothing to him.
Thirteen chunin enemies died in seconds while all the others had mild or serious injuries. Even jonin were dumbfounded and were scared shitless because they did not expect to encounter such a strong ninja during this simple mission. Well they were not to be blamed as nobody has right estimate of Yami's strength except himself.
Yami did not give any time to enemies to relax though. He had already used a simple EMS genjutsu on all of them and they cannot hope to break free from it. Even the simplest genjutsu when activated using EMS can be extremely deadly. They were already scared shitless by Yami's previous assault so they easily got caught in the genjutsu.
Yami just slashed each of their necks in seconds using his fast speed to move..
After that he casually used body Flicker to return back to his team without even a single cut on his body.
Yami - See I told you to leave everything to me. First you should always try to intimidate your opponents when fighting a large group alone. If you had participated in the battle with me then its effect would have been destroyed as they would just shift their target to you instead. Haha.. thankfully they all were scared shitless by my first assault so easily got caught in my genjutsu. Now let's store their corpses inside the scrolls and continue with our journey.
Ko - Yes captain.
Yami casualties nodded and started storing the dead bodies inside the scrolls given to them for this specific purpose. Ko was still stunned but he responded to Yami like a robot. He was subcontracted totally captivated by Yami's performance from before which was same for other members too. Although they could not watch the battle properly but when they remembered that their captain was only gone for about two minutes and noticed the wounds on the dead bodies of the enemies , they could only marvel at their captain's strength to finish off such strong enemies so quickly..
During the rest of the journey , they did not encounter any more enemies and easily arrived before Konoha's base camp inside the desert..
