Chapter 22: Well Rested

"I don't get it? Why not?"

"NO Lilly! I said NO!" His features darken. You don't understand why he is so adamant in not letting Mr. Gordon help out.

"Jack tell me what's really going on? Why can't we let Mr. Gordon come back?"

His shoulders drop. He gives a loud sigh. " I don't know if you've noticed but I'm a proud man. I'm very good at what I do. I gave Neil my word that I will look after the business while he's gone and I intend to do that."

"I know that you are and I understand that you gave your word but Jack, isn't your health more important?"

He puts his hands on your shoulders and looks you in the eyes. "I know that you're worried about me but Lilly, this is something I have to do. How will my life end if I can't do what I love?"
