Chapter 33: Alone

Lilly POV

I get ready for court but my mind is not even close to working at the moment. I wonder if Jack is safe and if he has already arrived. I wonder if he is getting the thing he was looking for. It saddens my heart a little bit that I do not know what he is looking for. But I want to be "the good" fiance and just wait for him to come back to me.

At the moment I am not feeling like "the good" fiance because I want him by my side now. But I shake my head and try and get myself into this case. It is one of our more important clients and it is imperative that I win this case today.

As I get into the office, I make myself a cup of coffee and then go and sit behind my desk to study the file in front of me. This should be an easy win if everyone plays along. It is an unfounded accusation and very untrue. I can say with much confidence that since I started as a lawyer I never lost a case.

Just then Mr. Gordon knocks on my door.
