Synopsis

When Kai is pulled through a portal into nothingness, nothing seems to happen. Days, months, years, decades, nearly a century later, Kai is released from his prison. But something has changed. He no longer has a body, a form, and instead is a being of pure mental energies. To survive, he must feed on the crux of what makes us human- our emotions. A journey of small joys found in the ocean of stresses and sadnesses in life, and the eventual end of one beautiful thing leading to the birth of another.

AUTHORS NOTES - The first volume (1-34) issues with the consistency of the actions of the main characters. The gap time taken between posting the final chapter of the first volume and the beginning of the second volume was to ensure these issues would be remedied for the rest of the novel. I personally think the ending of the first arc really makes up for all the issues with the novel, so you should totally give it a try!

shamelessly reviewing my own novel lol It may not have the whole plot laid out in the title, but maybe that's partially because the MC dunno what do be going on either! Anyways, although I cannot speak for the writing quality myself, and there are like 8 chapters that i am very very slowly revising because imo they make no sense, the excitement I am feeling as the first volume comes to a close is... spectacular. I sure hope that I'm doing my words justice by sharing this sense of excitement with you all. After all, why would we read books if not to connect with others and understand the human experience? Hopefully my tired words can bring these things to you as well. And on that note, I've got a chapter to write!!

I enjoy this book. I have read the title front to back, and it is very unique and thrilling. I may even read the book itself someday. I only wish that this novel was updated more frequently so i could more frequently consider finally reading it.

The author has piqued my interest from the very beginning. The mysteries are many and I am not quite sure how it will all work (which is a positive considering I can usually predict the plot), so I look forward to seeing how it will all unfold. I don’t want to spoiler tag, but I will say that the confusion the reader feels at the beginning is intentional and it will make sense as the story progresses. The story drops in unexpected humor at just the right time to keep the story from becoming too dark. Overall I can see this being an interesting tale with twists and turns along the way. Please give it a try!

Welcome fellow readers to another Ash review! (This one will be shorter, though, I will make another review later after reading all the chaps.) At the time I'm making this review, I've only read 12 chaps. Ok first is the writing quality. And to put it simply... it's better than the majority of other novels on this app, and you can see that the Author has a lot of potential. Writing quality is good, so don't worry about that. Next, is Story development, which from what I've read is progressing nicely and steadily. The Character designs are well thought out and the MC, Kai is cold and unfeeling. The side characters are well made and bring refreshing moments of humour in an otherwise quite dark and bleak mood. I can't comment on World Background since I haven't read all the chaps, but from what I've seen, looks good so far. All in all, I would tell you to give this novel a shot. You never know, it might just be what you've been looking for. P.s. Good lucky Teddy! You've got this. :)

I read the first volume of this novel about a month ago and I really enjoyed it. It starts out a bit clunky and confusing, (although the reason why is explained later in the story), but it picks up the pace quite quickly once the main character gets used to his situation and starts learning about his powers ( and us with him). The tone of the novel is generally a heavy one, with occasional moments of humor which help giving the reader space to breath (although some jokes or references might get past some of the "older" readers). The characters feel solid, they act like normal teenagers would and it is intriguing to read how their normal behaviour and emotions are effected by the mc's actions, which really adds to an already pretty interesting ( and personally unpredictable) plot. All in all I recommend the novel to anyone that doesn't want to read the usual progfantasy/powerfantasy and wants a change of pace, it will be worth your time.

Fearmongering

This is a review from a fellow author, so basic legibility and normal grammar are not the basis for an instant 5-star review. Let us start with the writing style. The writing style is a perfect fit for the story itself and mirrors its protagonist in his views of the world. At times one could refine and enhance some sentences a bit to further enhance the experience. Stability of updates: No comment, since I am not a big fan of daily posting anyhow. Story development: The story developed has much potential and speaks of a world just like ours. Although the foreshadowing was obvious enough for a visually impaired person to see through it. Overall, nothing too groundbreaking, but not something hard to imagine. Character design: Is the biggest strength of this novel, as every character, even the stupid ones, do have their own agendas and motivations─mind you─ it still reads a bit "young", so some refinement could further enhance these characters, but that was not enough of a downside for me to lower it from 5 stars. The world background is, in my eyes, the weakest link. That is not to say that Planet Earth is not represented well, I just think that it does come a little too short in these 34 chapters. While Kai's view of the world is important, the world background should never be too much in the background
