Chapter 75: The Elder

Woods winced in pain, clutching her stomach after a sudden blow. A mysterious figure had materialized, and Varion's voice echoed, warning against disrespect to the commander. Sidian quickly intervened, pulling Woods away, bewildered by the swift and silent appearance of s20.

Varion, indifferent to their confusion, moved forward, observing the scene outside through a small opening. Peter, holding an ice axe, stood on the steps, anticipating a confrontation. However, Varion knew that Peter was not of interest to the Predator s. Scar, in particular, would not consider him worthy prey.

Varion's voice echoed through the opening, surprising Wieland. The realization struck him that Varion had somehow entered the Pyramids while they were left outside.

"Varion?" Peter uttered, stunned.

"I advise you not to act recklessly in the face of what's coming," Varion cautioned.

Woods, still defiant, questioned Varion's motives, but Sidian quickly pulled her away. Varion, smirking, suggested that they accompany Peter outside. Meanwhile, S20 brandished a pistol, a weapon they had picked up earlier.

A series of heavy footsteps reverberated, heightening the tension. Peter gripped his ice axe tightly, sensing imminent danger. The footsteps ceased abruptly.

Varion, with a sly smile, urged, "Come."

Confused, Sidian questioned what was approaching. Varion, looking through the small opening, seemed to anticipate something.

Peter's anxiety heightened, and then the sound of electricity crackled. A colossal figure emerged from the darkness, wearing a punk metal mask, armor, and a skull with dreadlocks. Varion identified it as Scar or the Predator who was about to become Scar.

Scar walked past Peter, showing no interest in him. Under the mask, his scanning indicated no fascination with Peter's cancer scars. Standing before the small opening, he emitted a monstrous roar.

Varion, unimpressed, commented on the creature's output depending on roaring. He then invited Scar to be a part of his collection, asking if he had any objections. Scar responded with another roar, his small computer translating his disdain for being collected—a sentiment reserved for after Varion lost his life.

Baso, the iron-blooded hand standing by the wall, raised his hand. A small object fell from the air, and he deftly swung the knife out with a backhand motion. Above the Predator's head, a black figure hovered momentarily, a part of its body slipped from the top, and then it descended beside Predator.

"What is he doing?" Sidian asked.

"Warriors claim their prey and award themselves a badge as proof."

Hiss... It was painful to watch, but they had witnessed how powerful these monsters were. They were incredibly fast and strong. Even their blood was highly corrosive, evident by the scars burned on their foreheads and equipment—two scars.

"He is already an adult Predator."

"What if he doesn't let us go?" Woods questioned.

Sidian was taken aback. If that were the case, they would probably have to wait for death. No, apart from Varion and the others, who could find this place on their own, meaning they were familiar with it and might have a chance to escape.

"Let us go? No, he doesn't stand a chance."

"Why?"

Varion sneered; arrogant soldiers must be defeated. Initially, this Predator should have been the most cautious of the three. Unfortunately, the dynamics between hunters and prey can be fickle.

Once a tiny flaw appears, the aliens will find you, parasitize you, consume you, and complete their life evolution.

A face-hugging bug, previously hidden on the side, stared at Scar. If Scar intended to perform the rite of passage, he needed to bear scars. To do that, he had to remove his mask. Now, the opportunity for the face-hugging bugs to parasitize had arrived.

The group at the cave entrance watched as the once confident Scar was attacked by a face-hugging bug, gripping his head tightly. The movement was visible in his throat.

"What's happening?" Sidian was puzzled; weren't they supposed to kill each other immediately?

"Parasitism."

Sidian questioned, "You mean this thing is parasitic on that monster? Then what?"

"Yes, strictly speaking, once the parasitism is complete, they rapidly transform from juveniles to adults. You should have seen a lot of this along the way," Varion explained.

Woods gestured to the situation outside. "You mean something will emerge from that monster's body and grow rapidly?"

Varion shook his head. "No, it's more terrifying. This is one of the abilities of the aliens. They absorb the high-quality genes of the host to complete their evolution, becoming more powerful than ordinary aliens."

Many people had died at the hands of monsters along the way, and they were no longer opponents. Now they were being told that an even more powerful monster would emerge, Fuck.

Woods' eyes flickered, and she looked at the pistol on S20's waist. "If I kill him now, will the monster still appear?"

Varion turned to look at her. "Certainly. Killing the host won't affect it, but if you kill the alien embryo, the alien won't appear. However, you don't have a firearm, so you can't do it."

"But don't you have them?" Woods pointed to the pistol of S20.

"Uh... what does this have to do with you?" Varion responded.

Woods shivered with anger. "If monsters appear, this is not what you want, right?"

Varion ignored her. She was oblivious; she couldn't see that I am a bad person! Woods wanted to continue persuading Varion, but Sidian pulled her to the other side.

Perfect, so perfect—the Alien is a perfect killing machine.

After three minutes, Scar stood up in confusion. He saw the corpse of the face-hugging bug beside him, and his heart was pounding.

"Hey, how does it feel to be parasitized by prey?" Varion taunted.

Scar turned to look at Varion in the passage. It was this person who had repeatedly challenged him, picked up the mask on the ground, and put it on. A hoarse voice emanated.

"You...will...become...my prey."

Varion nodded. "I like your character, but it seems that you have no chance, and your chest will burst...."

Scar turned and walked away. The next time the Pyramids changed, there was no channel to come in. If he wanted Varion to become his prey, he needed to go through another channel.

"Are you looking for death? Now go provoke this thing."

Varion grabbed his backpack, pulled out the plasma shoulder cannon inside.

"This is mine..." Woods wanted to say something, but S20 had already pointed a pistol at her. She could only stare at him with hatred.

"Very good technology, but unfortunately, the brain is not very good."

With a click, Woods and Sidian didn't know how Varion did it. This strange object began to shape-shift in his hand, transforming into something resembling a firearm.

"Shit, is this really a gun?" Sidian regretted it, but he couldn't use it.

If it were in his hands, once he went outside, he wouldn't be short of money for scientific research funding.

"Tie them up" Varion commanded.

As soon as the voice fell, a hole appeared on the wall in front, revealing another channel at the end. In Varion's perception, it led to the alien queen's lair, though it might have been over run by aliens by now.

Empty—on first glance, it was either a passage leading nowhere or a movable wall. This place gave them a familiar feeling. How was it a bit like the sacrificial room they had encountered before?

Varion stood beneath them, stating, "You could have left, but some people couldn't control their mouths, so I had to let you be useful. Good luck to you."

Huh, he and S20 vanished from sight.

"Hey, where are you going?"

"Come back soon!"

Sidian struggled against the tough ropes that bound him, but couldn't break free. Damn, glaring at Woods with intensity in his eyes, it was all because of her. If it weren't for her, he might have already escaped.

"Damn...damn...damn..?"

"Help!"
