Chapter 1: The Infuser
I, James Blaine never even dreamed of holding this much power, nobody did.
The academy has been up for thousands of years, but never has it had a special warrior...
Well, that's a lie.
It had, a thousand years ago...
This academy is the best in the country, and it will be for years to come.
I joined this academy a little more than 4 years, and I never succeeded.
Every year, I hope and pray to get a better mark on the EXAM.
This is how Malex's School Of Magic works:
There are five Tiers. Five being the worst and one being the best.
Once you pass Tier 1, you can pick your profession.
Some decide to be teachers, others fight in the everlasting war.
There are different types of warriors, all possessing different powers.
Every year they do a test, a physical one and a written one.
You move up a tier if you get more than 90%...
And I'm in Tier 5, even though I'm have been here for more than 4 years.
I loved it here at first, but after finding out I was no good, I hated it.
My parents live in the distant city, they wouldn't let me leave this place, they want me to be like them, warriors.
Although it's a school of magic, they still do combat.
We train with our 'randomly' chosen classmates and fight until one of us gives up or goes unconscious.
We do this for about 2 hours.
Then we learn writing, reading and listening in Latin, English and German.
Then we learn about our country's history with other nations, all about war and our army and the history of magic for an hour.
Many kids make fun of me for being the worst, one of them was Max Correr.
He was pretty much the class bully.
It was a new year, a fresh start and a time for me to do the best I can.
I promised myself I will pass this years EXAM.
Me and my friend Norman were on our way to the Great Hall.
This is where we go at the start of the year to see who we are paired up with and our new teacher.
I was just praying I wouldn't get anyone bad this year.
Last year was ok. I was paired up with Liz.
She was nice, one of the only respectable person in my class, along with Norman of course.
We gathered along the Great Hall, nobody talked, waiting intensely and patiently to hear the results.
Our piece of paper was handed to us that told us who we were with for the rest of the year.
My eyes widened with terror as I read the piece of paper.
My 'randomly' chosen classmate I'm going to work with is... Max Correr.
I saw that coming.
But that wasn't what I was scared of, I looked at the teacher I had... Mr Herron.
Rumour has it that he was a retired police officer who had actually been to prison before the war.
He was the worst, he was the strictest, most scary teacher at the school.
Norman looked at me, he had a smile on his face.
" I'm paired up with Cara and I have Mrs Loren.
He said 'unlucky' when I said who I had.
I sighed as I walked into my new classroom, It's not really new, I have been here on my first year.
As I walked through the door, some of the kids were already there.
Some of them sniggered, all I did was look at the floor and ignore them.
Max walked in and my hopes for this year shattered to pieces.
He was happy now that he could make me suffer.
Max was loved by most of the teachers.
He was quite strong too, he could easily take me down.
I shivered.
Our teacher walked in too soon after, his menacing eyes staring at us and he shouted and screamed at a student for doing nothing.
This was going to be a long year.
The time was nearly up for me to fight Max.
It may not be a very important battle, but I was in for some real pain.
Max did his devilish laugh, but I decided I wasn't going to let this kid beat me. I... WILL... BEAT...HIM...
