Chapter 46: Kidnapping or Murder? (2)

Malcom looked at him with a smile. It was not that he had never been hurt so much before. Still, it was the first time a doctor was willing to explain all the medical stuff to him.

However, one thing was for sure. His condition might be so serious.

He cleared his throat before speaking carefully, "I'm sorry, Doc. I didn't understand any of what you just said..."

The doctor raised his brows as if he had a realization.

"Right. Of course," The doctor muttered. He then spoke again in a slower manner, "I mean, I will immobilize your arm in a restorative cast. That device will restore the state of your arm to 100%."

"100%... That's really good…" Malcom was relieved that he could function just like before. That was one of his greatest worries after every battle.

The doctor then continued to explain with a smile, "We will rebuild your ribs here. That was collateral damage. I don't know how you did it, but you reduced all the impact just to your arm!"

"I'm so lucky!" Malcom said before the doctor.

The doctor nodded his head with a smile. He genuinely felt that the young Marked was on the good side for the Goddess of Luck.

"You pick up my dagger? Was it destroyed?" Malcom asked as his gaze shifted towards Skyler.

Skyler grinned. She then showed him his intact dagger. The young woman looked proud and dependable.

"All your things are here. I'm glad you're okay," she said.

'Well, not really okay when a little movement feels like my body is going to cause me pain to the point of almost passing out,' He complained to himself silently.

"I'm fine, thanks to you," Malcom responded instead with a smile. There was no point on worrying people when he was still breathing and could recover to 100% later.

He then curiously asked, "How did you know I needed you?"

She opened her eyes in surprise. While looking at Malcom, she took her necklace that was identical to the one Malcom had around his neck.

"I was testing how the necklace worked! And I saw you… It was luck," Skyler responded, with her face as bright red as a tomato.

Seeing her acting like this, Malcom was amused.

Armand put his hands on his daughter's shoulders before speaking, "The important thing is that you are alive, boy."

Malcom nodded gratefully towards Armand. The man was the one who gave him the necklace after all.

"Will your cure be ready today, doctor?" Armand asked the doctor.

"For the most part," the doctor said with a smile as he looked at Malcom with a bit of shame, "But the restoration of your arm will take a few weeks."

Malcom nodded and, while looking at the doctor, said, "Tomorrow, I have a match ... how will it affect me?"

"In the Bio-sphere, your body will be in perfect condition, and any wound that can carry out a load to your arm will be treated by the restorative plaster. In a few words, you will be without any problem."

But in this situation, a voice at the door of the office said, "As long as they don't attack you again in real life, you should be fine."

At that moment, Albert and Jonah entered casually.

The doctor seemed to be excited to see the Virtue in front of him, and rising, he offered a hand as he said, "Virtue! Welcome to my office…"

Jonah calmly shook hands while concentrating on Malcom. He said, "You look good!"

"I thought your men were going to protect me…." Malcom said, not hiding his irritation.

Jonah shrugged his shoulders. "I thought you wanted to capture those guys yourself," he replied with the same tone that Malcom used to speak to him.

"Seriously? Geeze… Thank you for the vote of confidence, I guess," Malcom retorted smartly.

"Sure. We all know you are a dependable kid," Jonah continued the sarcastic talk. "See, my men were knocked out on their places. I guess that guy did it. But you even managed to fight him for a while until help arrived, and you got yourself still completely intact now."

Malcom remained silent. He felt like having a headache by just remembering his own guards that were not there when he needed them. His instinct was really not wrong from the beginning. He saw them.

"Good job keeping him alive!" Jonah said with thumbs up while looking at Skyler.

The girl nodded as her brother smiled at her.

Jonah continued, "Okay. Let's put joking aside. Anything you can tell me about the attacker?"

Skyler shook her head, and as she looked at her brother, she said, "Not much. He was completely covered..."

But Malcom from the stretcher said, "Tall 6,4 maybe about 260 pounds of weight, brown eyes raspy voice, it is a very powerful warrior beast, but it is not an animal with claws or scales, it is definitely terrestrial, it is right-handed, and now it must have both palms of its hands burned although I don't know for how long."

Skyler and the rest of those present widened their eyes in shock at the description.

Jonah smirked, "You did pay attention!"

Malcom looked at him, but this time there was no resentment or irritation, this time, the look that Malcom gave to the Virtue was a look full of honesty.

"This man who tried to kill me, I will leave it to you. I don't think more than six people in the country can beat him..." Malcom left the sentence in the air.

Jonah, for the first time since he arrived, showed a really serious face.

The soldier nodded and, looking at Albert, said, "Follow me!" The Virtue began to walk.

Before leaving the room, Jonah looked at Skyler again and said, "You are a brave and competent girl, good luck in your match tomorrow."

Then walking calmly through the corridors of the hospital, Jonah looked at Albert and seriously said, "Assemble the team. You will personally take care of him today. Expect nothing less than a class 1 mage, be careful."

Albert saw his boss, who showed unusual seriousness and calmly asked, "Everything is alright?"

His expression turned solemn for a moment. Jonah then spoke coldly, "This was not the Church of the Four."

"I know, Colonel!" the young man agreed immediately, "No more than six people in the country can face it. It is very obvious who it is!"

Jonah nodded stiffly. And without saying anything else, he quietly left the hospital.
