Chapter 62: Assault in the Lair (3)

However, Albert was leaning to one side and managed to avoid her attack.

With speed, the young man hit the girl's stomach with his elbow only to take the arm with which she tried to hit him and throw her into the cloud of spores.

Marcy, after seeing how her friend fell into her poison, immediately canceled her attack, leaving her defenseless. In a fraction of a second Albert grabbed her back and knocked her unconscious with a targeted blow to her neck.

"Too static for an elemental. You have to move more!" Albert said entertainingly. He then Debora, trying to recite something.

Still, he, using his superior speed, cut the distance between them before she could utter a word and, with a strong blow to her stomach, left her speechless.

"Wizards who don't speak can't do magic!"

And then, with another accurate blow to her neck, he knocked her unconscious in the same way that Marcy.

Albert called Jonah, who was watching the show when the lioness girl stood up behind him and bit his neck with extreme force.

Albert took a deep breath as her enemy's teeth dug into his neck. She had a triumphant smile as, little by little, her jaw began to freeze.

She walked away from Albert, who, turning to see her, showed how the bloody wound on his neck healed when a white fur came out in that place.

Some smoke finished healing the wound while Lorena tried to understand why her jaw was frozen.

Albert walked towards her, one of his eyes had turned white, but little by little, it returned to normal, and being right in front of Lorena, he said unhappily, "I told you not to bite me!"

The ice from the girl's mouth began to spread throughout her body, she began to lose her breath. She wasn't able to stand and fell to her knees on the ground.

In contrast, little by little she began to freeze, her body lost temperature and her eyes were planted on the face of her enemies who looked at her with some remorse on his face.

"Colonel," Albert called Jonah, "Two of the enemies can be questioned. One died in the fight."

After saying that, he approached the cell, and the butterfly disappearing allowed him to enter.

Jonah, outside the lair, looked at Malcom, who was surprised by the way that battle had ended, and looking at him said, "Time to go in and see if your friend is there!"

In one of the hidden exits, another of the members of the Church of the Four tried to escape by all means, but it was impossible for him.

"I hate you! I hate you all!" As he said that, he took out a sphere from one of his saddlebags, and looking at his opponents, he said, "If you don't let me go, I will throw this sphere and blow up this whole place. Both you and I will die!"

Moran opened his eyes, looking at his partner with a smile.

"Impressive!" Sofia said brightly.

Just as she said that she activated her power, and modifying the legs of the creature in front of them made them bigger and more muscular. "Do it!"

The Chameleon held his breath and, lifting the sphere to throw it to the ground, he saw how the creature in front of him advanced so fast that he could not move and taking his two arms immobilized him instantly.

"What the heck is this thing?"

Sofia approached him, and taking the sphere from his hand, she said, "This is a synthetic corpse. It is a corpse that I designed myself. It allows me to modify its body parts to better fit any spirit."

After saying that, she looked at Moran before continuing, "He can bring any spirit from beyond and together with this creation, we can both make a very, very powerful warrior. Don't you think?"

The man did not believe what he saw when they both put an inhibitor collar on his neck. And they prepared to enter the lair.

Within minutes all the prisoners were put in one place. Junica and Jessika slowly made sure the hostages were safe. Malcom, leaning against a wall, saw how the girls were being treated, and at that moment, Clare approached him.

They both gave each other a hostile look, and it was she who said, "So none of these are your friend's right?"

He shook his head. His anger was palpable.

She added, "Jonah will interrogate those wretches. Soon we will have more places to visit!"

Malcom looked at her dryly. He did not want to have a conversation with her at all, but it was inevitable.

He released a heavy sigh. Since Clare, for some reason, was trying to inefficiently friendly with him, it would be rude to not at least acknowledge her presence.

"How can you take off the inhibitor collar?" Malcom could not help but asked with unmasked irritation.

She looked at him and, taking off her glove, showed a ring that she was wearing on her finger.

When Malcom saw the ring, he also saw a huge scar in the middle of her hand, as if something had completely pierced her palm to come out of the other side.

"This thing kept a little energy in it. When I apply the energy to the necklace, it opens up," Clare explained patiently, "I had to find a way to survive. My thunder power is always active, so I found this way to limit myself."

Malcom nodded in understanding. He then frowned when he noticed the way she was looking at him.

"What?" He asked, feeling uncomfortable.

"What you did was even more incredible… you found a way to fight even though these bastards took away your power and marked you. Actually, that's great!" She said truthfully.

Malcom stared at her. She reflected a fit of anger similar to the one he carried inside, and something about her told him that it was related to that scar on her hand.

He looked at her and asked curiously, "Your scar... how did you get it?"

She snorted, before putting on her glove. "It's the reason why I hate this damn church... if you live long enough, I might tell you what happened."

Malcom looked at her and then gave her a small smile. Clare returned the smile, and when she saw how Albert approached, she walked away.

"You are amazing!" Albert said, giving him, thumbs up, "You actually made her smile!"

Malcom stared at him and asked instead, "Are you okay? You looked affected a second ago."

He smiled and looked in the direction of Lorena's corpse, the girl was covered, and he said with a sigh, "I hate killing people weaker than me... It seems inappropriate."

"How did you kill her?" Malcom asked with a raised brow.

Albert was about to explain it when one of the hostages ran back and looked at Malcom.

"The Marked will be mine!" She yelled, in a guttural voice, her eyes sparkled. Just as she spoke her face transformed. Instantly, a portal opened in her stomach an unexpected way.
