John pulled out his sword, and with an enraged yell, he plunged it into the unique monster's stone-hard arm. The monster howled in pain, and its blood gushed out like a river of fire. John's strike was so powerful that it startled the monster, causing it to drop him.
As Lord John fell, he landed on his feet with an incredible agility that belied his fear. He quickly regained his footing, his eyes flashing with an intense determination as he held his sword at the ready. His heart was pounding in his chest, his mind racing as he faced off against the fearsome creature before him.
The unique monster howled once again, its grotesque mouth twisted into a wicked grin. John could feel his body trembling with both excitement and terror as the monster charged towards him with lightning speed. But he stood his ground, unwavering in his resolve to vanquish this beast once and for all.
As the monster closed in on him, John sidestepped it with a lightning-fast move, his sword flashing in the dim light of the cave. He struck the monster's other arm with a fierce blow, causing it to scream out in agony. The monster was wounded, but it was not defeated yet.
With a sudden burst of speed, it charged towards John once again, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. But John was ready, and he dodged the monster's attack with ease. He could see that the monster was growing weaker, and he knew that victory was within his grasp.
Suddenly, the whistling of air echoed through the cave from the dark, and an arrow broke and came flying, grazing John's cheek. Suddenly five arrows came flying from the darkness, each one quickly broken with a few swings of John's sword. All while the unique monster was still swinging at him.
John's small slight body was faster. He dodged the monster's many attacks and the arrows flying from the shadows with a quick movement. He swung his sword with all his might, and Richard noticed his swing and decided to cast a strength boost. But as he raised his hand to cast, John yelled out, "No!!" as if he had a sixth sense capable of seeing behind his head. His sword struck the monster's chest with a sickening crunch, and the monster howled in agony, falling to the ground, its chest split open.
Lord John stood over the behemoth as it lay bleeding out on the ground. He stood panting and covered in sweat, his sword dripping with blood. He had done it. He had defeated the unique monster and had begun the path to becoming more than just the son of the Demon Lord Slayer.
John lifted his sword high into the air, ready to behead the monster, but suddenly, a little goblin girl with her crossbow slung around her shoulder hopped between them, her arms out.
"No!" she yelled, tears falling from her eyes.
What she couldn't say, her mind and body said. Thoughts of her brother raising them after their parents were slaughtered by adventurers when she was young, causing them to live on their own and forming a bond stronger than steel, flashed through her head. And all she could think of was to do anything not to lose him like their parents.
"Hey, it's okay if you don't want to kill her. She obviously holds an attachment to him, and if you want, I can kill them for you," Raphael offered.
Despite the goblin girl's obvious pleading and Raphael's offer to kill them, all John could think about was becoming his own man and becoming greater than his father.
At the drop of a hat, John swiftly dispatched her head from her body, causing the body to go limp and fall over the head falling in front of the Unique monster.
Out of anger, the Unique monster roared before rising from his knees. But just like the female goblin, without remorse, Lord John cut off the Unique monster's head, sending it rolling in front of the female goblin.
Lord John stood there for a moment, panting and covered in blood, as he stared at the lifeless bodies of the unique monster and the female goblin. He felt a mix of emotions: triumph, guilt, and a deep sense of loss. But he knew that he couldn't afford to dwell on those feelings.
Raphael and Amelia stood behind John, their jaws dropping as they watched him dispatch the monster and goblin with ease. The blood dripping from John's sword and the lifeless bodies at his feet made him look like a vengeful god of war. Even the angels would have been impressed by the sheer power he possessed.
Suddenly, a bright light opened in front of them, and a divine being emerged from the heavens. The light was so bright that it made their eyes water, and they had to squint to see the beautiful being before them. It was Exaldra, the goddess of the skies, the one who blessed the heroes and adventurers of this land.
"Thank you, Amelia and Raphael. Take the heads of these two goblins and show them to one of the front desk ladies at your guild and say you have killed them on your own without help. They shall give you back your money and ask no questions. This is something granted to me, Exaldra. As for the Boy, I shall bring him to his nanny. Now go, you two."
Amelia grabbed the little goblin girl's head with a shiver of disgust. The blood on her hands was cold and sticky, and it made her feel like she was holding the head of a snake. Raphael, on the other hand, lifted the massive head of the Unique monster with ease. He was strong, but even he felt the weight of the beast's head in his hands.
As they walked out of the cave, the monsters around them cowered and quivered in fear. They could sense the power radiating from the two children and knew not to mess with them. It was like they were walking with the gods themselves.
In a trance-like state, they walked to the guild, their heads held high. They weaved through the throngs of people on the streets and in the guild, their eyes locked on the front desk. Everyone in the guild was waiting for the king's tournament to begin, but they couldn't help but stop and stare at the two children with awe.
Walking to the front of the hall, they slammed the heads down in front of the desk worker with a thud. "We killed them on our own. I'd like to request the dara back and retract the quest," Raphael ordered, his voice booming with confidence.
"Good job, sir. You killed this monster," the lady at the front desk said, her eyes wide with amazement, as she withdrew the dara and slid it over to him. "Impressive! Well, enjoy the Kings Tournament."
The pair approached the hospital with a sense of trepidation, their hearts racing with concern for their injured comrades. As they pushed open the heavy double doors, the sterile smell of disinfectant assaulted their senses. The bright fluorescent lights flickered above them, casting harsh shadows across the stark white walls.
With each step down the long hallway, Raphael and Amelia could hear the muffled sounds of moans and groans emanating from behind the closed doors. Their anxiety grew with each passing moment, until they finally reached the room where their friend were being treated.
As they tentatively knocked on the door, their palms were slick with sweat. The voice that called out from within was barely audible, but they knew it was one of their companions. With trembling hands, they slowly pushed the door open.
The sight that greeted them was both heart-wrenching and uplifting. Richard, Colt, and the other adventurers lay in various states of disrepair, but they were alive and on the mend. The room was filled with medical equipment, and the gentle rustle of sheets as the injured shifted in their sleep.
Amelia approached Richard's bed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Hey Richard, how are you?" she asked softly, her heart breaking at the sight of his bandaged body.
"He's doing better after the fight," Luis replied, his face etched with concern. "The doctor says he can leave tomorrow, but for right now he is sleeping to regain all the energy he lost during the battle. His abilities worked overtime so he is extremely tired."
Raphael looked around the room, taking in the sight of his wounded friends. He felt a lump form in his throat as he thought about the dangers they had faced and the sacrifices they had made. But he also felt a fierce sense of pride in their bravery and resilience.
As the group stood there, taking in the sight of their injured comrades, they knew that their adventure had took a toll on them, like the first adventure they made together. But they also knew that they were stronger for it, and that they would continue to face whatever challenges lay ahead with courage and determination.
