Chapter 117: Offscript

The rain had mostly stopped by that night, save for a few small raindrops here and there. However, the dark clouds remained, hanging over the Kingdom of Eversun like a gloomy wet blanket. 

Korbin had raced off to his meeting, telling Daphne to head back to the palace first by herself. He left her with his waterproof cloak, and as he disappeared back into the distance, the beads of water beat down on his body relentlessly. 

He looked to be in an actual hurry, so Daphne couldn't even tell him to take care of himself before he left. 

He was sure to be fine, she convinced herself. This was the man who could withstand a blow to his chest and a clean slit across his neck. There was no reason that he would be in any dangers from the weather. 

But dinner had gone by. And there was still no Korbin. 

She was preparing for bed, but Korbin was still nowhere in sight.
