Chapter 65: Lord Chamberlain

At the age of sixty, Marquess Dominic Isaacs had entered the twilight years by the standards of New Albion. Unlike Mattheus's parents, Honoria and Albert IV, Dominic Isaacs also looked his age. There was a type of weathered look about his appearance that was surprising to Mattheus, who had been used to seeing people who looked well-kept for their age.

Not that Mattheus was going to underestimate Dominic Isaacs just because of the number of wrinkles and liver spots on the Lord Chamberlain's hands. The influence the older nobleman had was insane within the palace.

There was a long silence as Mattheus sat at one of the chairs across the desk from Dominic Isaacs after the requisite greetings. Mattheus was patient and could wait until the Chamberlain broke the silence. It only gave the twenty-year-old baron more time to mull over the approach Marquess Dominic Isaacs might need.
