Bai Lian had listened to Jian Zhongyou's collections, "The White Snow of Cang Mountain," "The Peace of Autumn," and "The Sounds of Home"; she had heard them all.
These were works from Jian Zhongyou's middle period, characterized by simple, steady rhythms and a warm atmosphere.
So, when she learned that Jian Zhongyou had become famous for playing "The White Robed Journey" and that his later compositions turned out to be as plain and sincere as Qin Jiu's, Bai Lian was somewhat surprised.
"Blossoms on the Tree" tended toward a tense style with an overwhelming sound, and as the script progressed toward the middle and later stages, it created an anxiety similar to the Empty Fort Strategy.
It wasn't a style that Jian Zhongyou excelled in, and indeed he didn't have much energy to continue to create. If he hadn't been unable to find the right person, he would have already retired.
