"Exactly," Anthem said. "I can't really smell anything other than the vegetable stew cooked by Aria – I have no idea what is causing all the mortals and the demi gods to feel so sick!"

Requiem tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Could it be that the olfactory senses of the mortals and the demi gods are much more delicate than ours?" he asked. "It could be that even though we think that the aroma of the vegetable stew is pretty ordinary, the mortals and the demi gods find it unpalatable?"

It looked like Requiem had inadvertently arrived at the truth – it was just too bad for him that none of the mortals or demi gods were around to confirm that his hypothesis was indeed completely correct.
