Synopsis

Afraid of the light, addicted to blood, and immortal…
When Ke Lin transmigrated to this world, he realized that he seemed to fit all the characteristics of vampires.
But the problem is, he couldn’t find any records about vampires in this world!
Could it be that he is the first-ever vampire in this world?
He had no predecessors to guide him.
And there was no system to help him.
In order to understand the powers and limitations of vampires in this world, Ke Lin had no choice but conduct experiments on himself and observe the reactions of his body:
[Under direct sunlight, power levels decreased by 30%]
[Throat, heart, and brain are no longer fatal weaknesses]
[Ordinary foods will no longer satiate hunger, only blood can restore stamina]
[Holy water… wait what?
Who fed me holy water!!!

Tbh, it started off good and intriguing, with him experimenting and learning more about his powers/vampire identity while still having to deal with the political mess that comes with being reincarnated into a Baron's son. His character gradually didn't become my cup of tea but one thing about him is that he's determined to accomplish his goal no matter the cost. Now, I would be fine with the storyline if at around 130 chapters or so, he didn't choose to cheat. Like he literally keeps a powerful mistress because he wants to use their heir to consolidate his power. That's my bottomline. I was already a bit put off with the FL appearing so early into the story only to not be the only one. He didn't feel an ounce of guilt and First FL is just naive and treated like/is a powerful flower vase in my opinion. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but this is a common trope in male-centered (and authored) novels that annoys me. It's already steering towards a harem for me. I guess I should have read the tags before starting the novel.Only staying for the political plot and more discoveries about his bloodline powers.

Writing this as of 15 chapters in. The MC transmigrated into the dead body of a Baron's son that was just assassinated. Off-rip figures out he's a vampire from Earth's folklore and tries to figure out what vampires are like in his new world. Obviously since you probably read the synopsis you know that the world he finds himself in has never seen anything like vampires before, so he's figuring everything out on his own. So far we know direct sunlight only weakens but doesn't kill, his body can only get nutrients from blood but it doesn't have to be human, and he can control the flow of his own blood so his heart doesn't beat and he doesn't bleed. The power system of the world is divided into 9 levels with normal people only capable of reaching level six at max no matter how hard they train or how talented they are. To reach beyond level six you require the blessing of a patron god but even with that nobody has made it past level seven in thousands of years. The MC figures out that consuming the blood of higher level people might help him level up faster, which I thought was exciting when I read it, but no he later debunks that as there turns out to be an additional factor he hasn't figured out yet. 15 chapters in and the story seems to be focusing more on politics and plans within plans than the main character discovering more about his powers to level up and get OP. Looking at the chapter titles ahead I feel people who love Game Of Thrones will enjoy this more than others, but I personally don't want to spend my money to unlock more chapters of political intrigue and espionage. TL;DR : GOT fans might like this, but it's not my cup of tea.

The translation quality is actually pretty good. The MC isn't stupid and is slightly paranoid but willing to take risks. Characterization is consistent. Somewhat generic, but it's more like a KR western fantasy than the standard CN western fantasy.

When considering a word to sum up this novel, the word, lame, comes to mind. The initial performance wasn't bad. I had high hopes, but the experience was a letdown. A vampire story that is loaded with political intrigue that isn't intriguing at all. Also, it was filled with super annoying females, and a very slow to develop, and lacking MC. I just don't feel like there is any good climax, and it falls flat. I even looked elsewhere to skim over 100 chapters to see if there is an improvement in the story. Nope, still lots of inept attempts at political intrigue and annoying females. 😑 Not my kind of story.

(Reviewed at chapter 43) Summary of Review: The story starts out really well, capturing your attention and wanting to see how it will develop but then it starts slipping and then king of falls and goes downhill 🫤. Longer version: Story: Just as the synopsis says, we follow the MC waking up in a medieval world that has magic. His "common sense" in how he approaches matters is rather refreshing as it makes you think, "this guy has passed the first hurdle" - he isn't naturally stupid. As he explores his new vampire nature, the world doesn't wait for him and events keep occurring. Character: At the chapter I am in, other characters haven't been explored too deeply. Though it is in the early phases, the author has set a kind of baseline behaviour and nature of the MC. You can guess at his thoughts and motivations which makes him more real. Unfortunately, towards the chapter I am in, he makes odd decisions and worse, it's cause of a lady. He is borderline simping and it isn't even because he is in love or has a crush (which makes people do dumb stuff and would be understandable). Having inherited the memories of the original body that knows of politics, he goes along with the ideology of a naive girl who doesn't know the cruelty of the world. For a few central characters, the author has slightly explored their mannerisms but others are forgettable. World Background: The author has taken some time to develop the world and how things interact but not too deeply. Of course chapter 43 is still early but at least the world feels alive and somewhat expansive with interconnected areas. Progression: Honestly I find this rather lacking. At the beginning, the MC is exploring his new status/abilities as a Vampire and we get to learn of his abilities in an interesting way. But looking at the progression ranks, you just know one is more powerful than the other. For example, the MC moves to the next rank but apart from being able to ignite some energy for "something", there isn't a quantifiable explanation of how he's grown. No techniques, no practice, nada. So far we just know that if I'm rank 2 and you're 1, I'll beat you up. But what about skills? After all, as Knights (for example), they would use cold weapons like swords. If the rank 1 has better technique and the disparity isn't very big, wouldn't he hold against the rank 2? In short, the MC enters a new rank but you don't feel it being impactful due to lack of details. The translation is rather good and consistent and doesn't feel like a slightly polished Machine translation. In short - it is the inconsistency in the MCs character and behaviour plus the lack of details in the progression that have made me give up on this one. It isn't bad with a nice political intrigue and power struggles but that "hook" from the start just seems to have slipped off.

It's the most interesting novel of this batch so I hope it will be picked. It's just that in 40 chapters we see a lot of disadvantages of being a vampire, but the only advantage he has is that he is a relatively harder to kill. (+ he can barely raise his knight level through drinking special and difficult to get kind of blood) MC doesn't have any canonical powers, so he can only barely be called a vampire not to mention a progenitor.

This is one of those rare books that truly captivated you. And not to lie I spent a lot of money just to read this book. While the ending was a bit rushed it wasn't bad I mean he became a God at the end and even resurrected Vera. The translation was a tiny bit iffy at times but not too annoying. Also, I liked how this book had me on a genuine roller coaster ride of emotions like; anticipation, Joy, hestaition, fear and many others. Over all a wonderfully crafted story. Bravo author. Bravo.

I really like this novel, the story is great, there is a lot plot, for a translated novel, at the beginning i feel like it almost compared to The Fated Villain, but from the mc first battle, the character development is become rough, for example the mc power system is confusing, at first it stated clearly how did he grow, but later on, the mc power its just there for the sake of the plot, mc rarely use his power, i mean rarely is not how many he use it, but he is not using it when the situation is allowing him to use it, some situation clearly not stated that there is obstacle for mc to using his power, but he didn't do it, he chose the hard way. I wonder if the MC sometimes forget his power.

Translation Quality: No complaints. Story Development: My Lord where to begin. Dear Author you have floored me. I am truly impressed and blessed to read a novel with this level of work put into it. 400 pages later I'm here writing this to say thank you before I continue to read. Character Design: Author utilized main and side characters to push the story/narrative in a beautiful way. Twist and turns through the story and the situation they find themselves in cause characters to make serious choices with serious consequences, the plot thickens and the author knows how to keep ones attention. What you may have thought was the death of a important enemy, was merely a illusion the author created to distract you. Updating Stability: I binged 400 pages. I cannot downvote this masterpiece for the authors inability to produce more content. "Yet." I'm greedy and want more Author. Deal with the problem your success has brought you. World Background: Constantly expanding, immersive, wonderfully laid out, my attention grasped tightly. Keep it up and Good luck. I'll update my review at a later date.

This is a captivating story where we, as readers, are pulled into a world of fantasy with a healthy dosage of wits and schemes . The characters are multilayered and adequately complex further unveiling ing the plot in a ravishing manner.

A decent read. Acceptable world building, generic but not bland protagonist, side characters with the ability to think a bit, seemingly well thought out power systems and an interesting premise. This could go sideways later on but it's looking fairly promising right now. Despite being a bit basic, this is probably as good as it's going to get on this site. I like the potential, concept, story and worldbuilding because I think they could be rather interesting so this gets a high score. It's always nice when my depressingly low expectations are actually exceeded for once. 3.25/5.

I have to admi, I am shocked. I didn’t expect that Webnovel would give us such a Gem in a Trial novel. This is a Vampire story in a World which is a Mixture or AGoT and LotR. We have a Human translator and this novel is 9/10
