Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Rosalie watched as Dalton strode away from the cabin and towards his house. She wondered why he asked that question. She didn't need a husband, she thought as if trying to convince herself that is how she truly felt.

Rosalie always dreamed of being a

good mother and wife. Unfortunately for her the ladder didn't work out the way she had planned. At no fault of her own she can finally securely admit. "What did I do wrong?" She used to ask herself after learning of Declan's indiscretions. She now knows he would have strayed from their marriage either way. She was a good wife then, and she would be a good wife to another man one day too.

Pulling herself from her daze, she secured lily in a carrier and began to load her belongings into her new home.

Walking through the front door Dalton headed for the now cold meal he had prepared. Upon entering the dining room he found an empty plate and a very satisfied dog not far from it.

"Glad you enjoyed yourself" Dalton said sarcastically as he picked up the empty plate and heading towards the kitchen.

Setting the plate in his sink, he looked out the above window that was conveniently positioned facing towards Rosalie's cabin. He watched as she lugged boxes from her car to the living area of the cabin and then returned for more. He felt a ping of guilt as he watched her struggle to lift the larger boxes that looked heavy and slowly carry them to the house.

"So what?" He asked himself as a reminder that she is not his responsibility.

Moving towards the refrigerator he went for some leftovers that were nearing their expiration date. A few seconds later he found himself planted in front of the sink window once again watching Rosalie work.

After a few minutes went by, Dalton began to move away from the window just as Rosalie returned from her most recent trip into the cabin.

Stopping dead in his tracks he saw that Rosalie had shed her original sweater and now wore only a blush pink cami and jeans. She radiated sensuality as the color brought out her flushed complexion in a way that made Dalton stir.

Her being here was Dangerous, he thought to himself. Not only for her but for him as well. She was an enticing beautiful woman living alone with a newborn. The farm often had farmhands come and go, and one was bound to attempt to take advantage of her situation.

The danger for Dalton, was that he was the one who wanted to take advantage.

As Rosalie unloaded the final box, she headed into the cabin for the night. She would unpack most of her belongings tomorrow, she thought to herself but for now she just unpacked the essentials.

Satisfied with her progress, Rosalie went to lily who had began a whimper that would no doubt turn into a full fledge cry.

"You must be hungry, aren't you?" Rosalie said in a soothing tone

After finding a comfortable spot on the aged brown sofa that would have to be replaced, she began to feed her baby before turning in for the night.
