They had air-lifted Trisha to a Madison hospital almost two hours ago. Two fucking hours. Nick ground his teeth waiting for any news as acid ate away at the lining of his gut. Brad kept alternating between sitting in the waiting room chair next to him and pacing. It was driving him batshit crazy.

Hell, he had to be crazy. He still hadn't processed what had gone down back at that creepy house, but whatever it was, it hadn't been in the realm of normal.

Alexandra Drake had come back from the dead. That was the only explanation, insane as it was. She had touched Trisha, and his world stopped the instant her heart had.

Nick closed his eyes, remembering how he'd slammed his foot against the banister, trying to get the wood to break so he could free himself. The damn railing had been solid.

He'd never felt so fucking helpless in his life.
