There wasn't anything more to be done. Nick had arranged for two deputies to stay at the station and, though off duty, Steve would be at the Christmas party with him just in case. He couldn't justify scheduling more men on Christmas Eve. They all had families and plans. Nick hadn't bothered to relay his fears to anyone else but Lafferty.
