Chapter 57: Echoes of Destiny

The fiery message in the sky dissipated, leaving Avery, Lucas, and Damien staring at the empty blue expanse. The swarm of scholars gradually dispersed, their heated talk receding into the background. 

"What does it mean?" Lucas asked, his voice taut with concern. Avery shook her head, her thoughts whirling."I don't know, but I have a feeling we're about to find out."As if on cue, Avery's phone rang in her mind. She took it out, her heart skipping a beat when she saw the frequenter ID UNKNOWN. With pulsing galettes, she responded."Hello?" 

"Avery." The voice on the other line was deep and familiar, sending a thrill through her whole body."It's time we talked." 

" Dad?" Avery muttered, her voice barely audible. Lucas and Damien exchanged astonished looks as Avery barely responded to the voice on the other end of the phone.
