Chapter 12: MAKING SURE SHE'LL QUIT

Mo Shira was taken aback by Yue Ling's outburst, and his anger escalated as she declared her preference for Hu Wuting over him. Her words seared into his mind, his eyes blazing with fury. "You refuse to resign? Fine!" he snarled. "I'll make sure you're forced to leave this company. You'll bear the full weight of my wrath, and we'll see how long you last!"

As he spoke, he suddenly remembered Hu Wuting and wondered where he was. He pulled out his phone and sent a message demanding Hu Wuting's whereabouts. Just then, the door creaked open, and Hu Wuting cautiously entered, his eyes scanning the room as if checking for potential danger.

------------------

Unbeknownst to Mo Shira, Hu Wuting had followed him into the office, but upon witnessing the confrontation with Yue Ling, he quickly hid in a corner, avoiding eye contact and hoping to escape notice. He breathed a silent sigh of relief when Mo Shira didn't summon him.

But his reprieve was short-lived, as Mo Shira's icy gaze fell upon him. "Where the hell did you go?" Mo Shira demanded, his tone dropping the room's temperature to freezing.

Hu Wuting wisely remained silent, knowing from years of experience that attempting to explain himself would only exacerbate the situation. He had learned that sometimes, discretion was the better part of valor, and that silence was the most prudent response when Mo Shira was in a foul mood.

Mo Shira's attention shifted back to Hu Wuting, his expression stern. "I want you to make sure that secretary quits willingly. Make her life difficult, so she can't bear to stay. I don't care how you do it, just get it done."

Hu Wuting nodded, though he couldn't fathom why his boss was so fixated on driving Yue Ling away. "Yes, boss," he replied, his mind racing with questions. Is Mo Shira interested in her? Why is he wasting his time on this? Hu Wuting shook his head, confused.

Mo Shira continued, "And ensure all papers requiring my signature are brought to me by her. I want to make her suffer." Hu Wuting nodded again, "Yes, Sir. I'll go check on her right away." Mo Shira grunted, his eyes narrowing in contemplation.

Yue Ling seethed with anger as she worked in her office, her face twisted in a scowl. Her concentration was shot, her mind preoccupied with her contentious encounter with Mo Shira.

Just then, Hu Wuting entered with some documents, his expression polite. "Miss Yue, these papers require the boss's signature. Could you please help me deliver them to him? I'm in a bit of a rush."

Yue Ling's annoyance was palpable, but she bit her tongue and accepted the documents. "Fine, I'll take care of it."

As she entered Mo Shira's office, her anger simmered just below the surface. She dropped the documents on his desk, her movements curt. "Sir, these documents need your signature."

Just as she turned to leave, Mo Shira called out, "Did I ask you to leave?" Yue Ling hesitated, her eyes flashing with irritation. "But sir, I already dropped off the documents."

Mo Shira ignored her protest, his tone imperious. "Get me a cup of hot black coffee with no cream. And bring it yourself."

Yue Ling's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with defiance. Why should she be tasked with fetching his coffee? Couldn't he have sent someone else? But she refused to back down, her determination to prove herself evident in her forced smile. "Yes, sir." With that, she exited the office, her eyes blazing with a fire that threatened to consume her.

Here's a rewritten version with some improvements:

Yue Ling returned with the black coffee, her expression neutral. "Sir, your coffee."

Mo Shira's face contorted in feigned outrage. "What's this? I specifically asked for coffee with cream, and you bring me this?" He snatched the cup from her hand and hurled it to the floor, shattering it into pieces. Scalding coffee splashed everywhere, including onto Yue Ling's skin.

Her face paled, but she gritted her teeth, determined to endure the pain. Mo Shira sneered, seeming to relish her discomfort. "Let's see how long you can take this."

Yue Ling bent down, her movements deliberate, and carefully gathered the broken cup's fragments. Her eyes never left Mo Shira's face, her gaze icy. Once she finished, she stood up, her voice even. "Sir, don't worry, I'll get you another cup of coffee, with extra cream this time." Her smile was tight-lipped, her eyes flashing with a hint of defiance. With that, she turned and left, leaving Mo Shira to seethe in frustration.

As Yue Ling packed her belongings to leave, Hu Wuting approached her, his voice warm and encouraging. "Are you heading home already?"

Yue Ling turned to him, a hint of a smile on her face. "Yes, it's past 6. Is there any other work I need to do?"

Hu Wuting's expression was sincere. "No, Miss Yue. I just wanted to commend your bravery. Don't let Mo Shira's words get to you. Keep focusing on your work, and ignore his provocations."

Yue Ling's eyes softened, grateful for the support. "Thanks, Mr. Hu. I'll keep that in mind."

Hu Wuting offered a reassuring smile. "If you need help with anything or encounter any issues, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to assist you."

Yue Ling nodded, her appreciation evident. "Thanks again. I'll take care. Bye."

Hu Wuting nodded, his eyes warm. "Take care, bye." As they parted ways, Yue Ling felt a sense of gratitude towards Hu Wuting, a glimmer of hope in an otherwise challenging day.

As Yue Ling and Hu Wuting continued their conversation, Mo Shira emerged from his office, his eyes scanning the area. His gaze landed on the pair, and his expression darkened. He didn't hear their exchange, but the sight of them together ignited a fierce jealousy within him.

His anger simmered as he watched Yue Ling walk towards the parking lot, oblivious to his presence. She got into her car and drove away, leaving Mo Shira seething with resentment.

He turned to Hu Wuting, his voice low and menacing. "What were you talking to her about?"

Hu Wuting, sensing the tension, replied cautiously, "Just offering her some encouragement, sir. Nothing significant."

Mo Shira's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with suspicion and anger. "Keep your distance from her, Hu Wuting. She's not to be trusted." With that, he turned and stormed out of the office, leaving Hu Wuting to wonder what had just transpired.

Mo Shira was perplexed by his own emotions. Despite his outward disdain for Yue Ling, he couldn't explain why he felt a pang of disappointment and jealousy when she left without acknowledging him, and worse still, shared a moment with Hu Wuting. It was as if he craved her attention, her notice, her recognition. The realization unsettled him, and he quickly pushed the thought aside, unwilling to confront the strange sensation.

As he and Hu Wuting departed the office together, Mo Shira remained lost in thought, his mind grappling with the unfamiliar feelings that lingered beneath the surface. Hu Wuting, sensing his boss's turmoil, remained silent, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. The tension between them was palpable, a testament to the complex web of emotions that had begun to entangle them all.
