Chapter 1: The Last Siren of Peril

The sky was overcast, darkened with murky whistles of windy storms. It could have rained down viciously, deluging everything at optical range into tsunami of havoc, disaster. Her panting self, running away, trying to escape those wild hounds eagerly wished the skies to drip their eyes out. At this very helpless moment, she prayed for her life by praying for the heavy storm. Indeed, a drowning man catches at straws. She was shrieking in the whirl winding streets of this estrange town, where people had already hidden themselves in their homes in order to stay away from the potential damage. How come she became the traveler of these ruthless streets. As nobody here, ever bother to lend ears to her plea. Destiny had her "between the devil and the deep blue sea". No door seemed open for her as she was rushing through those unforgiving and unfamiliar machi. All her hopes started dying out sooner, disappearing into the whirls of menacing storm. She stopped. Those hounds were at arm's length. She gave up. A nostalgic song, listened a long while ago, resounded in her ears:

"I want to cross you off my list

But when you came knocking at my door

Fate seems to give my heart a twist

And I came running back for more

I should hate you but I guess I love you

You got me in between the devil and the deep blue sea"

Suddenly, she stopped running. She closed her eyes in deep sorrow, smiled with empty eyes, at her struggles, quests of meeting her soulmate, her aspirations of living a good life. All the discourse of her past life played before her eyes in a video-tape form. She sat in the middle of this Kuni in desolation. No spark of emotion glared in her soul. At last she prostrated to her cruel kismet. Right before that, those Bitzers could have penetrated her skin and torn her apart into frequent pieces, she heard a shot. She thought of it as last siren of peril, diminishing her fright forever. She shut her eyes more firmly and gasped her breath. She dared not to open them. Suddenly, the sky got cleared out, winds returned and bitzers stopped barking. she opened her eyes in a vague hope of escaping this blind turn of her life. But the contingent view, merely awaiting her to open her eyes, made her wished that she had better died away when those vicious dogs were about to kill her. She saw devil in those eyes which seamlessly appeared wild, cruel and denigrating at the same time. She couldn't fathom it, when those hideous hands lifted her body up and made her squeeze in his arms. Leaning closer, that devil whispered:

"once a devil fell in love with an angle and it did not work well"

His piercing eyes were scoffing off her grief, melancholy, her visit to death and back and her whole self. She lost self-control, found herself on the mercy of this devilish man who was dragging her body over the dead bodies of once-very- brutal-and-ferocious hounds. A distant trail of thought followed her:

Every dog has it day and after the day has passed, it has to suffer the gloomy truth of sunset."
