As expected of the weather that had cast a dark blanket of clouds in the sky, the late evening in Beijing was filled with the thundering sounds of lightning in the air. Heavy downpour of rain almost made it impossible to make out the roads.
The guards outside Mingshen's lab were on duty as usual.
"It's pouring cats and dogs," one guard sighed.
"No kidding. I will pull out the shutters so that there is no leakage anywhere."
"Yeah, please do that."
The hands in the clock struck eleven-thirty at night when Shilin stepped out of the lab. He showed a polite smile to the guards and they asked, "Sir, you want to go back in this weather? You will get stuck midway."
He assured them. "It's okay. I will be fine. I know a shortcut. Thanks for your concern-"
From the corner of his eye, Shilin noticed a movement from afar as if something was coming towards them. He squinted his eyes and looked closer. "Whose that…?"
