She is Mrs. Lai…
Jia couldn't believe the conclusion she reached. Just yesterday, she had met her in the mall where Mrs. Lai was happily talking about her granddaughter's birthday. Now, she was here dissing on that same girl and wishing she had a grandson?
"Huh…"
Mingshen, too, recognized her voice because he had listened in to their conversation yesterday. He couldn't help but sneer.
"And then people say that my heart is black," he looked at Jia and smiled. "Well at least I don't pretend that it's white. I don't even pretend that it's grey."
He arched his brow, sensing that Jia felt rattled a bit from her body language.
Jia knew this wasn't the time to think about how the conversation had gone down or how she had felt about it last night, but she couldn't help it. Mrs. Lai's snide, cutting words poked her heart back and forth as if trying to break down the iron wall.
"Is she someone you know?" Mingshen asked quietly.
