Chapter 10: Eliane

When we woke up, it was 7:00pm. As much as I wanted to go back to sleep, I wanted to spend more time with David. Looking over at him, he looked so peaceful. His long beautiful lashes, plump brown lips, and the scattered freckles that I haven't noticed until now. I wanted to kiss him on the lips but that would've been weird since he's asleep.

I got out of bed quietly and walked to the bathroom. Once I peed, I was in the middle of washing my hands, when I heard a knock at the door. I'm confused. Who would be at my door at this time of night? I walked out the bathroom and down the stairs. Getting closer to the front door, I see a body figure on the porch until the light porch goes dark.

I stop in my tracks. This was most definitely starting to creep me out. Whatever they want, I don't need it. So I turn around and jump when I see David behind me. Before I could say anything, David put a finger against his lips. Insisting that I be quiet. I nod my head and watch him as he goes to the side of the door and pull back the curtain against the window.

Not by a lot, just enough to be able to see out. I walked closer to him, wanting to see what he sees. But he held out his arm. Not letting me come any closer. Coming close to me, he whispered in my ear, "Don't let anybody in. If you're alone, don't let anybody in." I just nodded my head once again.

We waited a few minutes until the person left to open the door. When David opened the door, what I saw stopped me in my tracks. It was a package with my name on it. With the same cursive writing as the other packages. David grabbed it and closed the door. Handing it to me, I opened it carefully and grabbed what was in it.

A rose. Just like the others.

"You don't seem shocked." Looking up at David, I saw him staring right at me.

"This is the second rose you've gave to me. You had me scared for a minute." I laughed at off but David didn't.

"I never sent you roses." He grabbed it out of my hands and looked over both the package and the rose. I was confused.

"What do you mean you never sent me roses?" My heart started to race. This was scary. He didn't answer. He just stared at the handwriting like he could figure out who wrote it.

"If you never sent me the roses, who did?" David looked at me with worry written all over his face.

"Did you see the person who delivered the first package to you?" I shook my head.

"It was just on my package. Someone knocked on the door but that was it." He went over to the counter in the kitchen and laid the package down while putting the rose back inside.

I could tell he had a lot on his mind that he wasn't telling me about.

"I'll order some food." And with that, he ended the conversation.
