After the end of the holiday, the weather became clearer and warmer with each passing day. Unable to resist the temptation any longer, everyone abandoned their heavy coursework, left the library, and wandered around on the lawn to relieve the pressure of their studies.
Albert had just returned from Hagrid's cabin. There wasn't much activity in the Forbidden Forest. Hagrid had told him three times about how he had shot a wolfman named Yorman in the knee with an arrow, successfully rescuing the person.
Unfortunately, the Ministry of Magic was not willing to pay a bounty for the unfortunate wolfman. The reason was that the wolfman Yorman was not on the Ministry's wanted list. Hagrid didn't mind, but Albert looked down on the Ministry's behavior. He thought it was just a matter of walking away.
Back in the hall, Albert immediately spotted Fred and George playing Wizard Cards, with a few spectators around them. After two rounds of elimination matches, the number of Wizard Card enthusiasts had increased.
Of course, this was related to the fact that the twins were using a brand-new set of Wizard Cards. The onlookers wanted to borrow cards from them to play a game.
Lee Jordan was flipping through today's Daily Prophet newspaper on the side. When he saw Albert approaching, he put down the paper and greeted him.
"How's it going?"
"Everyone is still searching all over the world for Professor Smith," Lee Jordan couldn't help but sigh. "There's still no word about where he actually went. The reward in the newspaper has increased again. They're offering 1000 Galleons as a reward for helping the Smith family find him or providing useful information. I really want that money!"
"You're not lacking anything in your dreams."
Albert took the Prophet from Lee Jordan's hand, carefully reading the front-page news, and shook his head. "Rita Skeeter actually thinks it's a problem with Hogwarts. That woman is blaming Dumbledore, has she gone mad trying to seek fame?"
"Dad says that reporter likes to make up news," Fred interjected suddenly.
"Originally, I thought we'd find Professor Smith soon," George threw down his cards and muttered, "But there's been no news at all. Professor Smith seems to have disappeared out of thin air."
"What do you think?" Angelina took George's Wizard Card deck and prepared to play a game with Shanna.
"Some say Professor Smith might have been killed or kidnapped, which is why he disappeared so mysteriously," Albert hesitated for a moment, "I think that possibility is more likely."
"Hey, hey, do you have to curse Professor Smith like that?" Fred was rendered speechless. Albert's tendency to say whatever came to his mind was truly frustrating.
Could Professor Smith really be dead?
"I'm just stating the most likely scenario!" Albert shook his head. "A wizard as powerful as Professor Smith wouldn't just vanish without any warning, and there's no reason for him to do so. The most likely explanation is that he was kidnapped or he's already dead. Otherwise, why would he hide?"
Everyone around fell silent because Albert's words made sense. This matter still seemed peculiar even at this point. Why did Professor Smith hurriedly leave Hogwarts, and where did he actually go? Nobody knew.
"I thought you had a good relationship with Professor Smith."
"The relationship is good, and I've been keeping an eye on this matter."
"Where are you headed?" Lee Jordan saw Albert putting down the newspaper and preparing to leave, so he asked.
"I'm going to see Professor Brod," Albert replied as he stood up to leave. Of course, the words he had just spoken were merely an excuse.
A few minutes later, Albert knocked on the wooden door of Professor Brod's Dark Arts Defense office.
Professor Brod opened the door, gesturing for Albert to come inside before he spoke.
"You're here, even more patient than I imagined. What would you like to drink, milk tea?" Professor Brod gestured for Albert to sit down. The Dark Arts Defense office had changed significantly.
"Mr. Moog said someone will explain things to us," Albert sat down across from Professor Brod, using a spoon to stir his milk tea. He looked at Professor Brod with his eyes fixed on him and continued.
"Yes. However, it's not appropriate to discuss it here," Professor Brod made a hushing gesture and pulled out a bag of Galleons from his pocket, placing it in front of Albert.
"Your spoils."
"More than enough."
"The extra one hundred Galleons are from Gabor for you. Of course, Isabelle has a share too. He's sorry about that matter," Professor Brod pushed the Galleons toward Albert. "Take it!"
"You knew from the beginning?" Albert didn't refuse, putting the money pouch into his Transfiguration Lizard bag.
"We had a hunch!" Professor Brod said, "Mr. Moog has been staying at Hogsmeade."
"Mr. Moog arrived late," Albert reminded.
"He just came to make sure you were alive," Professor Brod said calmly. "You know, there's something called a Time-Turner. If necessary, Gabor will go back in time to directly solve the root of the problem, so you won't be in danger."
"That's quite direct." Albert raised an eyebrow. "I thought that even with a Time-Turner, some things are hard to completely reverse and might even drive someone mad."
"One person alone might not be enough, but a group can be." Professor Brod interjected, "Anyway, we'd better not continue this topic. I've brought something for you that you'll definitely be interested in."
With that, Professor Brod placed a wooden box on the table, containing a thick, rusted metal book.
"The Bronze Book?" Albert asked curiously.
"Yes, this is the Bronze Book from the Ravenclaw Room," Professor Brod nodded in confirmation.
"Do you want me to put it back?"
"Yes."
"Why not have Mr. Moog put it back? He should have that ability, right?" Albert's hand brushed over the patterns on the book as he asked, "He should have that ability, right?"
"Who knows?" Professor Brod clearly didn't want to say.
"Can I read it?" Albert asked again.
"Of course. Inside, it records the use of ancient Runic Magic. Mr. Moog has already read it, so maybe you can understand it too. However, I suggest you put it back in its original place before carefully examining it."
"This thing is really quite hefty." Albert's gaze settled on the wooden box.
"I know you have a lot of questions, but now isn't the best time to discuss them. After the holidays, come stay with me for a few days, and I'll gradually explain these matters to you."
"Can I decline? Can I give the opportunity to Isabelle?" Albert suddenly said.
"Don't be so hasty to come to conclusions, and besides, you're still in the assessment phase," Professor Brod winked at Albert. "We'll find a way to convince you in the end, I promise."
"Wilhelm Smith's legacy?"
"You'll find out in due time, and you'll definitely be astonished," Professor Brod gave a knowing smile. "I was quite surprised myself at first."
"Do you think I'll pass?" Albert raised an eyebrow.
Professor Brod merely chuckled, not prepared to answer Albert's question.
