(Lola)
A deathly long silence passed over our table as my words cascaded between us, worst than any physical barrier. It would have been less painful to put a bullet in my heart. I was a lier, a dirty rotten criminal that had infiltrated their group. I was nothing more than a stranger to them, pulling off my greatest scam yet.
Too long, the silence dragged between us until I dared to look up and meet their gaze. Had they even heard me? But I was met with two sets of eyes gawking at me across the table. I couldn't see Jamie's face, but I could feel the tension in his body, the arm that was still draped over my shoulder retreating a few inches.
