Chapter 48: A name for the child

Pov Dia,

A few days have passed since that incident at night. Fortunately, no one knows what happened. At least, I think so, because I never know what Rimuru is thinking, and I have the impression that she knows everything I do. She might even notice when I blink at a faster pace.

While I was stressing about whether they knew what happened, we asked Inari and Kurama to train us.

Kurama taught us an ultra-effective technique, but also a very dangerous one because we could die using it. The goal is to be able to use all our demonic energy to fight. The problem is that it doesn't last long, and the risks can range from losing a limb to death, or being unable to use our demonic energy anymore.

So, we should only use this technique in case of extreme emergency, and even in those cases, we must think carefully about whether it is really worth doing.

And Inari's training was very interesting. We had to fight her individually, but what sets it apart from Scathach-sensei's training is that Inari is already weaker than Scathach-sensei and that we must fight her while she uses her nine tails.

It is really impressive; fighting each tail gives the impression that they are independent and therefore leaves us no respite. She uses Touki to increase the resistance of her tails, then attacks us like a whip.

Her strength level is between the ultimate rank and my current rank; it just depends on the type of opponent she is fighting.

Dia: "I have a question, Inari. Is it possible for you to become a deity?"

Inari: "Lady Amaterasu has already made a request, but they need most Shinto gods to accept it."

Dia: "And what if you are accepted?"

Inari: "There is no real difference, but at least I would bear the title of goddess, not just because of my strength. The problem with becoming a goddess is the administrative formalities I would have to deal with. You may not realize it, but deities have a lot of work and paperwork to do."

Dia: "It's true that it won't be fun anymore. You won't be able to spend time with Kurama."

Inari: "Obviously, my wish is to spend all my time with Kurama and, if possible, with the child of our union, but I still have obligations to fulfill."

Dia: "What name would you give your child?"

After I asked, Rimuru and Sera seemed just as curious as me.

Inari: "If it's a girl, it'll be Yasaka, and if it's a boy, it'll be Shin."

Dia: "Names related to the temples of this city. Shin for Myoshin-ji and Yasaka for Yasaka-jinja. Interesting."

Sera: "You're not planning to name our children after temples, are you?"

Dia: "No, but it can provide an idea if we can't decide on a name."

Inari: "One question, will you adopt a child?"

Dia: "No, we'll have one ourselves like most people."

Inari: "But since all of you are women, how can you have a child? It should be impossible."

Dia: "Actually, Rimuru is working on a spell that would allow a woman to have male genitals, enabling her to conceive a child with another woman. However, there are some drawbacks, but it's not the most restrictive."

Inari: "So you'll live in a large and happy family."

Dia: "One of the cons is that our reproductive odds won't change. If there's a 1 in 10,000 chance of conceiving naturally, Rimuru's spell won't alter that luck."

Inari: "That's unfortunate."

Dia: "Anyway, you have over 10,000 years to conceive naturally. You should have one by chance if luck is on your side."

Rimuru: "I can create a spell to increase the chances of fertilization, if you want, Dia-sama."

Dia:" It's not worth it, I prefer to have a child without forcing luck. At worst, you only increase the odds with more sex."

Sera and Rimuru blush at my words.

Rimuru (in low voice):" We haven't even had sex yet that you say we'd do more."

Dia:" Something to add Rimuru?"

Rimuru:" No sorry Dia-sama I was lost in my thoughts."

Talking about kids makes me want one now.
